The confession

Ezra POV:

I had something, something really important, to tell Maudie. I didn't have the guts to do it. I guess Maudie noticed that I wanted to say something, because she asked me about it. Honestly, I didn't want to stutter, but I couldn't find the words to tell her.

My face was flustered, and I was really embarrassed. Usually, my brain operates normally and quickly, but with Maudie, aka my crush, my brain has a total shutdown. When she stared at me, I melted into her eyes. It was hard not to look mesmerized. I think Maudie also noticed it. Her eyes opened wide. Does she have the same feelings for me?

Her gaze softened, and her lips formed a smile. Gosh, she was so cute when she smiled like that. I loved when she was paying attention to me when I was sick. Her eyes were just so worried and oh gosh, I melted into her eyes. She cared about me a lot, and I knew it. That made the confession a lot more easier.

"Well, Mauds... I've been wanting to say something for a long time, but I was too nervous to say it. Now, I've finally gathered the courage to say it, and since it's just the two of us here. I... I like you, Mauds. For a long time. Ever since you joined the detective agency, I already fell for your amazing skills from the start. The way you said my name... Everything."

Maudie looked at me weirdly, but she was happy. She thought it was strange, but she was still happy. She squeezed my arm, and smiled at me. She's just so cute. I'm really lucky she moved into my school.

I wish that that moment never ended. I wanted to stay like that forever. But sadly, Ava and Kyle came back, and they freaked out when they saw us.

"Well... To be fair, you guys are a couple. So we can also be a couple." She looked at me, obviously in love.

"Aww you guys are so cute!" Ava squealed.

"Oh shut up." I grinned
