Chapter seven
The next day, Jihyun slumps into the chair across from Rohee, tired and annoyed. If she knew it was going to be this bad, she would have never attended his stupid concert. The entire thing must have been some horrible set up by the universe, that's what it was. She just had to bear with it until everyone stopped caring, that way she'd be able to breathe again, freely.
"Ah, Jihyun can you go to the park nearby? Like the one practically behind the school?" Rohee asked.
"Why?"
"Someone asked me, they had to tell you something, so you should go see what they wanted to tell you. I can guarantee that it's fine though, I'm not setting you up to get jumped or something," she explains.
Jihyun raised her eyebrows, skeptical, but she shrugged it off and decided to trust that Rohee wouldn't have any bad intentions. She allowed herself to feel curious as she pocketed her phone. Who wanted to talk to her? What did they need to say? Was it a confession?" "That last statement seems pretty suspicious to me."
"Just go there. You'll probably be mad if you didn't, so...shoo shoo," Rohee voiced, swatting Jihyun away dismissively.
"Don't treat me like a fly," Jihyun remarked, scrunching her face.
"You are one," Rohee chuckled.
"Your mom," Jihyun said, throwing up an L in front of Rohee's face with her hand before grabbing her bag. Tossing the strap over her shoulder, she looked back at Rohee—whose countenance held feigned offense at the comment—and let out a laugh. "Okay, in case I get jumped I'm texting the police to investigate you."
"Just go to the park before I'll be the one to jump you," Rohee snickered, watching the look on Jihyun's face turn fakely petrified for the humor of it. "Hurry up and go, you don't wanna keep them waiting."
It's funny, how Rohee told her to hurry and go to the park to keep the person from waiting, but she's the one standing here alone. Under the big tree in the park infamous for many meet-ups. She's the one who was supposed to meet someone else here, supposedly after that person arrived first—they were the ones who asked after all. But it was Jihyun who was waiting.
She skimmed over the time shown on her phone screen and decided then that it would be fine for her to wait at least five minutes and no more. It was her generosity that made it five, for her pettiness would have made it two—or maybe three.
She didn't feel like getting occupied in her phone though that'd be what she would normally do. At the moment, she had no clue who she was meeting therefore it would be better to stay alert of her surroundings, so Jihyun casually eyed the place around her.
There was a fountain with shallow water near where the benches resided. It was always in pristine condition despite being around for years. The school must care for it a lot because til this day there were no cracks to be found in its appearance.
