LORENZO
I quickly rose from the bed, my mind racing as I realized Scarlett's absence. The crumpled note on the desk caught my eye, and I snatched it up, hastily reading her words. Anger and frustration surged through me, threatening to boil over.
The note revealed her decision to leave, to protect us in her own misguided way. I couldn't let her go, not after everything. Impulse drove me to the window, where I could see the open road stretching into the distance,
"Damn it, Scarlett," I muttered to myself, clenching my fists. In that moment, I made a choice. I couldn't let her face whatever danger awaited her alone. I needed to bring her back, not just for my sake but for hers as well.
Without a second thought, I rushed to gather a few essentials, ready to track her down. I couldn't let her slip away, not now, not ever. As I left the room, determination burned in my eyes. Scarlett might believe she's protecting us, but the truth was, she was a part of me, and I wouldn't let her face the darkness alone.
I rushed towards my office where Carson, Michael and Tyler were all sitting going through a few things " she's gone"
"Scarlet?' Nodded my head and made my way towards my chair behind my desk. " track and figure out where she's going" I told Carson.
" it's not going to be that easy" Michael said
I glared at him, frustration simmering beneath the surface. Scarlett's departure had set a chain of events into motion that I wasn't prepared for. The Viper, the woman who had become both a thorn in my side and an enigmatic presence in my life, had slipped away.
"Make it easy," I ordered, my voice firm. "I need to find her, now."
Carson, always reliable, nodded and began coordinating with the rest of the team. As they worked to trace Scarlett's movements, my mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. I had to admit, a part of me admired her tenacity, the way she faced challenges head-on, even if it meant going against my wishes.
As my men scrambled to follow Scarlett's trail, my mind raced with conflicting emotions. The Viper, an assassin with a turbulent past, had somehow become an integral part of my life. It wasn't just about business anymore; it was personal.
"Lorenzo" Tyler spoke up " do she have any loose floorboards in her room?" he asked me cussing me to pull my eyebrows together and confusion.
" I don't know why?" I asked
" she used to hide stuff in her floor boards when she was a kid" he told me.
I shot Tyler a sharp look, a surge of annoyance coursing through me. Scarlett's penchant for secrecy was proving to be a constant source of frustration. Without wasting another moment, I rushed towards her room, determined to find whatever she had left behind.
As I entered the room, my eyes scanned the surroundings. Tyler's words echoed in my mind, and I knelt down to inspect the floorboards. With a swift movement, I pried one of them open, revealing a small hidden compartment beneath.
Inside, I found a collection of carefully folded papers and a flash drive. My curiosity piqued, I unfolded the papers to find detailed notes, maps, and information about various individuals. It was clear that Scarlett had been planning something, something she hadn't shared with anyone.
The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. Scarlett wasn't just leaving to protect us; she was on a personal mission, one that involved more than just her skills as the Viper. The lines between her past and present were becoming increasingly blurred, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle.
Tyler hovered beside me, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the contents of the hidden compartment. "What is all this?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
"I don't know," I replied, frustration evident in my tone. "But I intend to find out." I gathered every piece of paper even the torn ones, and the flash drive bringing them to my office.
