"Come on, Kion! Keep up!" Bunga called, waving an arm to prompt his friend further.

"Bunga, stay close!" Kion hissed, his paw slipped and he was forced to catch himself on the other, which thankfully didn't hurt as much because of the support given by the wrappings. However he still grunted with what pain there had been..

"We gotta stick together, otherwise we'll leave ourselves open for bad things to happen." The cub told him.

"I know.. but.. look! We're almost there!" Bunga said, pointing.

"Thank goodness.." Kion breathed, lowering his head slightly, then continued walking.

"Hey so uh.. what are we gonna tell the rest of the Guard when we get back?" Bunga wondered openly, strutting alongside his friend with the egg tucked under his arm. "I mean we can't really hide those wounds very well if that's what you're thinking."

"I don't know yet, Bunga." Kion sighed. "I've never had to do something like this before.. I don't know what I'm gonna say.. especially when my dad finds out.. and I know he will."

"Pff! Come on! How bad can it be?" The honey badger scoffed.

"I just broke my promise to my dad that I wouldn't come here.." Kion countered. "And.. even though we succeeded in our goal.. he won't necessarily see it that way."

"Relax.. I got this.. just let me take care of everything." Bunga decided.

"That's what I'm afraid of." Kion sighed again.

"This is where we saw them last." Ono said, as he floated down to land on a rock just as the rest of the group joined him.

"The edge of the Pridelands." Simba observed, looking out over the Elephant Graveyard ominously.

"Kion headed off in that direction." Fuli specified, nodding her head to their left towards the tall grasses.

"And I thought Bunga was right behind us when we headed back to Pride Rock." Beshte added.

"He was.. I saw him." Ono confirmed.

"So then.. how did he get away from us?" Fuli wondered.

"And why?" Simba piled on.

A whiff of scent blew across Kion's nose, then a dusty tickle sifted through his whiskers..

"Psst.. Bunga!" Kion hissed, earning the honey badger's immediate attention. Lowering to a soft crouch, while still withholding weight from the injured paw, his body language alone let the bravest Lion Guard member in on all he needed to know.

Coming over and setting the egg aside, so it wouldn't roll away, he climbed up Kion's back to stand and peer over some rocks on the pursuing clan sneaking up the ridge after them.

"Target in sight.." the honey badger reported in a gruff sort of whisper. "It's definitely Janja.."

"Then we gotta get moving again.." Kion murmured, as Bunga slid down to kind of lay across his back.

Then nosing the egg up, Bunga grabbed it and set it up on Kion's shoulders; confused by the sight below him.

As Kion limped to keep climbing the incline, he slowed a bit coming to nearly the top; trying not to give in to the fatigue beginning to set in.

"Aw Kion, you don't gotta carry us.." Bunga said finally, sliding off his friend. "After all, you're dealing with enough already."

"Thanks Bunga." Kion thanked him meaningfully. "I just want us to get out of here and return this egg to its parents."
