"Come on, Kion! Keep up!" Bunga called, waving an arm to prompt his friend further.
"Bunga, stay close!" Kion hissed, his paw slipped and he was forced to catch himself on the other, which thankfully didn't hurt as much because of the support given by the wrappings. However he still grunted with what pain there had been..
"We gotta stick together, otherwise bad things can happen." The cub told him.
"Come on! Those hyenies got nothing on us!" Bunga cheered, hopping around ahead of the cub.
"Bunga shh! We don't know that.. They could be right behind us by now.." Kion hushed, taking a brief and cautious look around before walking on. "I'm not able to move as fast.. otherwise I wouldn't be as worried about it."
"Ah you worry too much." Bunga shrugged, waving an arm at him carelessly.
"Oh hey look! We're almost there!" Bunga mentioned after a short, silent moment of walking.
"Great! Then let's go!" Kion smiled thankfully. But heading up the path further, with a bit more hurry in their step.
Snarl!!
Janja and the hyenas leapt up in their path, blocking the way.
"Ah ah ah.. nice try, getting away with our dinner.. cub.." Janja sneered. Then Cheezi and Chungu appeared on either side of Bunga, who held the egg tighter and away from each of them in turn.
"Now there's only one thing left to do.." the hyena leader trailed slowly, then leapt at Kion, rolling him. But with that attack came an opposing advantage that sent him flying further down the trail away from Kion.
"Bunga! Clear a path to safety.. I'm right behind you.." Kion commanded, but inside he was thinking. This is gonna hurt!
"You got it, Kion!.. Zuka Zama!" Then stuffing the egg in Cheezi's mouth the honey badger bopped Chungu with an uppercut punch, then a sliding kick to Cheezi sent him away so he could catch the egg with ease and take off for the next wave of attack.
Kion bit his tongue with having to step on the wounded leg more than he would like to otherwise, but pushing Nne aside gave him clearance toward the Pridelands border, which made the pain worth it.
Then turning around they could see the hyenas stalking up behind them, and even though there was no wall behind them to be cornered by, they still felt that way just the same.
"Bunga, is it safe..?" Kion asked, when the honey badger joined him at his side.
"You bet. No way they're getting it now!" Bunga replied certainly.
Nne charged and Kion stepped backwards a few paces, but was met with a bite to the front of his right hind leg by Janja, who ripped and tore at his flesh then threw him off in a one-eighty. Kion grimaced hard from the ripping motion, then groaned when slowly recovering himself. Janja appeared again, but his paws caught the hyena's shoulders even as he snapped at his face.
"Zuka Zama!" Bunga called and soon another hyena flew into Janja knocking them both over Kion and away.
"Come on, come on, use the Roar to get them outta here!" Bunga goaded, hurrying his friend to his feet.
Then standing at his shoulder with a hand placed on it, he then covered his ears and braced for the loud..
Roar!!!
However as soon as the hyenas were gone and the roar ended..
"Kion." Just the tone of voice told him the level of trouble he was in by the mere sound of it.. and from whom it came. Wincing in turning around, he saw his father standing there sternly with the remaining Guard members just behind him looking awfully confused and in some cases disappointed.
