Cassendra's POV:
My phone buzzed each second because of my coworker's group chat. It's only seven in the morning but they are already full of energy, at least just to gossip. I couldn't relate, my morning coffee was a must for me to get the energy I needed for the day. Putting my phone on silence, I walked out of my house, heading towards the subway.
A few minutes into the walk, I noticed a new coffee shop had opened. The shop had flower vines all over one side of its wall, and I could see a pretty chandelier illuminating with a warm light through the shop's glass door. It had an "Open" sign hung on it. The shop looked straight out of a fairy tale, and it was definitely the type of place I would go for a morning coffee.
A small bell above the door made a "ting" sound as I walked in. The smell of fresh pastries and buns made me hungry. "Good morning, miss," I heard the staff greet me as I went through their giant chalkboard menu overhead.
I ordered myself a matcha latte and an apple pastry and sat down at a table next to the giant glass window. A few minutes later, a lady served me my little breakfast. I finished my apple pastry in one bite, and instead of looking outside the window, I was too focused on the inside of the cafe while sipping my matcha latte.
The cafe boasted a charming cottage aesthetic, with exposed wooden beams decorated by fairy lights that cast a warm, enchanting glow. Handcrafted furniture and pastel-hued cushions created a cozy atmosphere, while whimsical tapestries featuring woodland creatures added a touch of magic. Soft jazz music played in the background, complementing the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the delicate scent of flowers arranged in vintage vases on each table. Flower vines and plant pots hung from the wall, and then my eyes met...
Those Eyes...
Raven pair of doe eyes were piercing through my soul.
I blinked and focused on what I was looking at. It was the barista, looking in my direction with a soft smile on his face. His gaze dropped from my lips to my eyes and then again to my lips. He looked away with a smile that almost made his eyes disappear when I caught him staring. I could feel my cheeks heating up, and it was not because of the latte at all.
I covered my blushing face and looked away. I sipped my latte and almost burnt my tongue. I looked back at him, and he was already looking at me.
Oh...
My...
God...
This was too good to be true. Does he think I'm cute? I smiled to myself and then looked back at him. His long dark hair was tied into a ponytail, his tattoos sneaked their way out under his folded sleeves. And I could still see his gaze even through the lenses of his glasses. He was cute, my type even. Do I smile back?
I smiled. He looked away.
What the hell?
I quickly finished my drink. I did not have time for lovey-dovey stuff; I had a presentation today, so I better hurry. I walked up to the cashier to pay, and I could still feel the cute barista's eyes on me. His latte was actually perfect. The best latte I had in a while. I walked up to him, and he tilted his head like a bunny, taking a better view of my face.
"The latte was really delicious. I will surely come back" I complimented, with a grin on my face that stretched up to my ears. I noticed his name tag as I waited for a reply.
