Modern Day Naruto

Timeline and Lore

I know that I've already released the first chapter, but I see it necessary to do this due to the number of differences from the canon. Firstly let's clear up the timeline. This story takes place during the modern-day meaning that guns, cars, airplanes, and all other modern-day conveniences and technology exist in this story. Hashirama Senju established the Hidden Leaf in the eighteenth century with the other shinobi nations from around the same time. Naruto's generation was born in the twenty-first century. Although the shinobi nation has only existed for around 300 years, shinobi history goes back thousands of years. Also, the Otsutsuki clan doesn't exist in this timeline, and I will simply keep the origin of the chakra ambiguous. Any humans can use chakra but must train to use it. Hagoromo still exists in this timeline, but he isn't an Otsutsuki. He is fully human and was the first wielder of the Rinnegan.

The bijuu are simply extremely powerful and old yokai and won't be unkillable beings of chakra. Yokai will also be an entire race in this story and will be a significant threat. I've also changed the geography of the world by scale. Although the geography is similar to canon the size of Naruto World is now around the same size as Jupiter. There are also many more countries within our resident continent known as Japan and there is also an additional continent known as Rengoku which is the home of the yokai although an extremely small population of humans also inhabits Rengoku. Rengoku is a hellish landscape of endless death despair and bloodlust. Rengoku is also a place of limitless treasure with a lot of the strongest shinobi having gained treasure from this land.

Reincarnation will be a thing in this world, but Naruto and Sasuke aren't reincarnations of gods. They will still be the reincarnations of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha respectively. I've also changed the lore so reincarnated souls can communicate with their host souls through their mindscape.

If already planned a format for my story

Chapters 1-20: Childhood and Academy
The first twenty chapters will follow the childhood of this story version of Konoha 11 who will be the Konoha 12 in this story because Sasuke is included this time. Some of Konoha 12 will be replaced by characters from other animes. It will mainly focus on their time in the academy. I'll also be setting up the main conflict of the story during this time which is the Fifth Great Shinobi War. This phase of the story will span nine years in the story.

Chapters 21-100: Missions and Growing Stronger
The next eighty chapters will focus on the Konoha 12 as Genin gaining experience through missions and training with their Jonin senseis. They will be deepening their bonds with their teams and other peers. This is where the domino effect that leads to the start of the fifth great shinobi war will be beginning. I know this section seems pretty long but I will be focusing on the entirety of the Konoha 12 equally. All of Konoha 12 will have been promoted to chunin and some will even have become Jonin by the end of the phase. This phase of the story will take place over two years in storytime.

Chapters 101-250: Fifth Great Shinobi War
The phase of the story will revolve around the events of the Fifth Great Shinobi War. During this time, some of Konoha 12 will grow to be some of the strongest shinobi in the world and would become vital in bringing an end to the war. The phase of the story will take place over five years in storytime.

Chapters 251-?: Yokai vs Human War
This will be the final phase of the story and will begin after a three-year time skip. It will revolve around a war between the Shinobi Alliance and the entire Yokai race with some exceptions. Yokai will serve as minor antagonists throughout the story until the war. I don't know how long this arc will span yet.
