Such A Waste.

Ezra's eyes wandered half-heartedly to the hunched over figure of a quiet girl. He didn't recognize the person, so he assumed that this was the new girl that Mr. Henry had spoken of. She looked bored out of her mind, and out of place in the private school uniform. With her elbow placed on the table, she balanced her head on her hand. The position made the clothes stick up around the shoulder and tighten around the stomach, yet the girl didn't seem to care.

She must have felt his gaze on her because her head tilted slowly to the right and made eye-contact with his clear, bright, mossy green eyes that matched perfectly with his dark brown hair. Ezra gave a small nod of acknowledgement while she only glared and frowned slightly in a disgusted manner. He was slightly taken aback. Everyone who went to the school and knew of his position acted with respect. Either she didn't know about his rank or didn't care, he assumed.

Just to see the girl's reaction, he kept his eyes on her. It wouldn't hurt if he read her while he conducted his experiment, would it?

"Found something interesting, Mr. Sholt?" Mr. Henry asked, breaking Ezra's concentration. The teacher stood with a piece of chalk dangling in his fingers and a goofy smile on his childlike, round face.

The new girl finally turned back to Ezra, her face morphing back into the disgusted frown as Ezra smirked and looked forward. "Potentially," he replied in a bored voice. It wasn't often that he got called out. No doubt the new girl would get more attention from the other students if he, of all people, noticed her.

Mr. Henry sighed and swept a hand through his dishevelled bed head. "I suppose this would be a good time to introduce Ms. O'Malley?" His goofy smile returned as he faced the new girl. "Would you like to come up to the front of the class?"

Without lifting her head from her hand, she shrugged and gave a tired reply, "I'd rather stay here."

Mr. Henry was slightly thrown off by her bluntness, but managed to roll with it. "Alright, well introduce yourself from over there? Only if it's okay with you, of course," he replied a bit timidly, trying to play it off as sarcasm.

Internally rolling her eyes, the new girl sat up straight and folded her hands in her lap. Ezra continued to watch her silently, pulling for a reaction or raise of emotion. She promptly ignored him and delivered her long, well thought out, and heartfelt speech. "I'm Enola." Immediately, she sat forward into her former position with a bored expression on her face.

Ezra held back a laugh as he turned back to the teacher whose face betrayed a mix of irritation and holding back laughter. "Well, um, is there anything else you'd like to add?"

"Nope."

"Well... alright... Any questions class? I mean, any questions for Ms. O'Malley?" He asked, sticking his finger into the air with an, 'aha!' "Ezra, you seemed very intrigued earlier, anything you want to say?" Mr. Henry asked with sincere curiosity.

"Nope," he copied, holding back laughter at his own joke of mimicking the girl. "I'll make sure not to be interested in anything ever again if you plan to harass me every time. My mother doesn't like it when I get in trouble." He brought his elbow up onto the desk and rested his head on it, just as Enola had done.

Frantically, Mr. Henry waved his hands before him. "No! No! No! That's not what I meant! Please don't be deterred from women due to me!" Realizing what he said, the teacher slammed his hands over his mouth. "What?! No! I mean... that's not what I meant! I don't really know what I'm saying any more... Well, um, let's just get on with the lesson..." He mumbled, quickly scribbling on the board.

Ezra rolled his eyes at the teacher and leaned back in his chair, idly peeling the paint off the worn desk. The girl next to him nudged him. Her light brown hair framed her pointed face and almost made her look as though she had fish lips. "What's with new girl? Are you going to read her?" She gave a small wink. "Or did you already?" Fish Lips whispered with a small giggle.
