"Is it possible for me to get home at a regular time?" Enola grumbled, standing outside of the principle's office.
"I didn't think it was possible to make that uniform look good, princess," a familiar dark-haired boy said as soon as Enola swung the door open. "You managed to prove me wrong."
The twins sat on opposite sides of an empty chair, the principle seated directly across of them, a desk as separation. Enola's lips dipped down slightly at the situation. It didn't occur to her that she could be in trouble, more she was trying to figure out the abilities the people before her could possess. Abigayle had said that Ezra and Ezekiel were mind readers, but it was possible the girl had been lying or mistaken. She was friends with Naomi, after all. Either way, Enola planned to be careful where she steered her thoughts.
Enola looked toward the twin who had spoken and let out an agitated sigh. "That makes you Thing Two." She couldn't remember his name- nor did she care too- but had picked up on the large, invisible difference between the twins. The flirt was the younger one, while the introvert was the older one.
Ezekiel, the boy she addressed, gave a half smirk, leaning back leisurely in his chair. "I'm honoured to have already gotten a pet name," he said with a wink, turning back to the principle.
Mo gave Enola a small, kind smile, folding his hands together on his desk and ignoring his nephew. "Nice of you to join us, Miss O'Malley. I apologize that I didn't have the chance to speak with you on your first day. It seems it was hectic for the both of us."
"Can we get this over with? I have things I'd rather do," Enola replied coldly, standing behind the empty chair and crossing her arms.
Behemoth's smile widened and he gestured to the chair before her, a dark spark behind his eyes. "I'm afraid this will take some time. We have quite a few things to discuss." He began to focus in on her emotions, working to calm down her annoyance and anger.
Both Ezra and Ezekiel were curious to see how she would act without her usual malice.
"Take a breather," Ezekiel added, patting his lap. "You can always sit with me if you're worried about the scary principle."
Ezra glanced at his brother, confused by his words. He knew his brother often played with people, but he never knew him to go so far as to invite anyone to invade his personal space. After all, Ezekiel was a clean freak. Ezra would often see his twin tuck a piece of hair behind the victim's ear, then discreetly wipe his hand off on his uniform, but that would be the extent of it.
Enola ignored Ezekiel, focusing her attention on the principle. "If I sit can we get to the point?"
Mo softened his smile and nodded, hiding his confusion. Enola's emotion were the same as when she had walked in, if not more negative. It was seeming like the conversation will take longer than he had intended if his ability was ineffective.
As Enola moved to sit in the chair, Ezekiel spoke up again, "Am I getting the silent treatment, princess? I think that would count as bullying, wouldn't you say so, Principle?" Behemoth ignored Ezekiel and Ezra resisted the urge to smile.
"I try to keep my conversations with idiots to a minimum. I'm worried their stupidity will rub off on me," Enola replied sarcastically toward Ezekiel, looking to the principle after ward in hopes that he'd start already.
Before Ezekiel could reply, Mo cut in. "Ezekiel, has your theory proven to be correct?"
"It was Ezra's theory, but you know how he's a stickler for keeping quiet," Ezekiel teased, smirking and glancing over at Enola. His eyes seemed to dull for a moment before he looked back to Mo. "Theory confirmed," he added sneakily, as though they were playing a spy game.
