Mo Beneth.

He was known to the clan as Behemoth, the birth-given name that everyone agreed fit him best. Mo Beneth may have been the name written on the birth certificate, but it was simply a name he used around those ignorant of his clan and the secrets it holds. No one in his domain knew him as 'clan leader,' or even 'chief.' He was simply Behemoth; one of the most respected in his clan. Not just because of the things he'd lived through, but because of how he turned out due to them. He didn't rule by hate, nor by careless merciful tactics.

Everyone trusted him, but in the end, he trusted few. It was to be expected of a leader like him.

Ezra and Ezekiel were two of the three people he gave his trust to. They were blood and heir to Behemoth's spot after all. If he couldn't trust his own nephews, then what was the point in making them his successors?

This trust was one of the reasons he had called them down to his office. They were to be around when he questioned people, as their thought reading abilities proved useful in almost every situation. He even trusted them enough to keep quiet about his own thoughts, if they ever did happen to listen to them. The twins were warned against doing so, but they were human, and humans get curious.

This was not one of those times where they could be curious.

Ezra and Ezekiel had been strictly warned to only use their abilities on the two in question: Abigayle and Naomi.

They were the only two, aside from the twins and teachers, who had dared to speak with the new girl. To properly ensure that the new student was safe to have in such a... unique school, there had to be constant progress reports. Ezra and Ezekiel's use in this wasn't just to tell if the questioned person was lying, but to 'help' spark any details that the interrogatee might accidentally leave out without proper intimidation. Like maybe accidentally spilling the secret of the school.

Naomi hadn't known that Mo had planned to have these special progress reports. If she had, she would have gone about things in a different way, and prepared herself for the event. Now she would have to suffer punishment. The worst part of the situation was her emotions. Around Mo, she could never work up the energy to be scared. She couldn't bring herself to be anything more than calm. She couldn't control falling into a false sense of safety. Just as her ability was to sense emotions, Mo's was to control them.

Mo had invested years of practice into his complex talent. He had started where Naomi and many others in the clans were now: only being able to see emotion waves, not touch or change their form. He paid the price to harness his ability, making himself an even more fit man for ruling the clan and keeping it at peace.

Sitting in her chair, Abigayle was as affected by Mo's ability as Naomi was. Her normally nervous and jumpy self was lulled to a more malleable and easily controlled state, all at Behemoth's will, causing the meeting to pass like a dream for her and Naomi.

Their answers flowed out, simply, yet right to the point. If anything was left out, Ezekiel would do the honour of bringing it to light.

It didn't really matter to Ezra if anything was forgotten. He preferred not to talk, but to blend in with the background and observe, rather than pointing out someone's private thoughts. He found this to be an easier way to control his emotions, making lying to an emotion reader all the easier.

Ezekiel knew this about his brother. He knew if the job was to be done as Behemoth expected, he'd have to do the talking for the both of them. It was the way things had always been, and he found it to be more beneficial than silently observing. In this way, he could direct the person's thoughts toward what he had to know, while with just observing, it was whatever they happened to think. He didn't have to worry about his emotions getting in the way. If they ever happened to be part of the equation, Ezra knew it was then his turn to participate.
