Atlanta Meet

I was on the beam it was time for my dismount I had been working on. I took in a deep breath I ran into a round- off back handspring, full. I landed it with perfect style and grace. The crowd went wild. I smiled and bowed I was instantly acclaimed 1st place for all-around. My friends in the audience chanted my name. Soon I realized it was just a dream and woke up in my hotel room with my best friend Jackie shaking me and yelling my name to wake up. I turned away from her and moaned still tired from staying up watching Pitch Perfect with Jackie and Alana in our hotel room despite our parents telling us not to. Jackie and Alana are my two best friends were all team gymnasts at Starpoint Gymnastics in Miami, Florida and we all go to the same school.
We're staying in a hotel in Atlanta, Georgia for our gymnastics meet and we get to choose who we want to stay in our hotel room with of course I chose Alana and Jackie. I rolled out of bed and shot straight up rubbing my eyes.
"Morning, Jackie!" I said.
"It's about time you woke up." Jackie said rolling her eyes.
"How come the alarm clock didn't go off?" I said yawning and stretching.
"It did!" Jackie yelled.
"Sorry." I said.
"It's fine," Jackie said laughing, "I'm used to it but this one," Jackie said pointing to Alana," won't wake up."
"I can help with that." I said giving a diabolical smirk.
"Oh no." Jackie smirked.
I went to the bathroom and filled up my Star-point water bottle with warm water.
"What are you thinking?" Jackie said with a anxious tone.
"Oh you'll see." I said with the same smirk.
I walked over to Alana's bed ( also Jackie's bed ), took the cap off the water bottle and threw the water on her.
Jackie was so surprised,"Omg!" She laughed.
Alana shot up clearly surprised.
I laughed.
"What the heck!" Alana said.
"I think that worked Sydney!" Jackie said laughing.
We both cracked up laughing.
Alana gave me a death glare," So it was you," she said " well played!" She said smiling and laughing.
We all laughed till our abs hurt and we started crying.
"Why'd you guys wake me up?" Alana said rubbing her eyes.
"Because it's 6:15 and our meets at 7:00!" Jackie screamed.
"Oh!" She laughed.
After we all got silent we all realized we had to share a shower. We raced to the showers calling dibs.
"I call first!" I screamed trying to get through the bathroom door.
"Oh no I woke up first!" Jackie screamed pushing me back.
"Ugh!" Alana screamed.
Finally Jackie got in first and somehow managed to push the door shut while Alana and I still pushed on it and locked it.
"Yes!" She said triumphantly.
Alana and I went to our beds and got our clothes ready.
"I call second." I said smiling.
"Fine!" Alana said laughing. "Oh and look what I got our purple ribbons!"
Purple was Starpoints color and it was a tradition for every meet to wear purple ribbons in our hair.
"Good!" I said smiling.
I got out my Star-point team leotard and black Leo shorts. Then I got out my Star-point team jacket, gray sweatpants and a Star-point t-shirt, put on my jacket and put the sweatpants and shirt in my gymnastics bag and filled up my water bottle with the faucet in our room. I saw Alana sitting criss cross applesauce picking stuff out from her suitcase. I smiled at her and then checked my phone. My mom had texted me at six to make sure I had woke up. I rolled my eyes as I texted her back saying yes even though it was a lie.
"I'm hungry!" Alana said laying on her bed.
"Don't worry will get breakfast after we're done getting ready! Can you do my hair after I'm done with my shower?" I asked Alana.
"That's my job!" She proudly said smiling.
I laughed,"True!"
I heard the shower turn off and prepared to get ready to go in. I knocked on the door and screamed at her " open the door and let me go in to make this faster!"
"One sec!" She said.
After a couple seconds she was in her leotard and I heard the lock click open.
"Come in!" She said. "And you too Alana I need you to do my hair and makeup!"
"Okay." Alana said with a groan,"I just turned on the TV!"
"You'll get over it." Jackie said.
I laughed and got ready to take a shower.

We were all ready to go down and eat breakfast so I texted my mom and told her to meet us down there if she wasn't all ready. We went down and the aroma of coffee, sausage and pancakes filled my nose. We all decided not to get something too big since it's bad if you have a meet and a full stomach so I got a blueberry muffin, sausages and tea. We sat at a table across from our moms table. They were all chatting to each other.
"Hey mom!" I said to my mom.
"Oh look who's up. For a minute I thought you slept in. I was about to go up there and wake you up!" My mom said. I rolled my eyes and resumed to eating my muffin.

When we walked into the gym I noticed it was big like most gyms. I took in a big breath nervous like always. Alana, Jackie and me all took each other's hands wishing each other good luck. My mom embraced me in a hug and kissed my forehead.
"Good luck!" She said,"I know you'll do great!" Then I had to run off and meet up with my coach and the rest of our team to get ready for our first event.
Oh no it was bars one of my least favorite events because I could never seem to land the dismount. It was Jackie's favorite but she was good at it. I took in a deep breath running the routine in my head.
We got in our lines I saw Georgia Elite team come out and knew it was going to start soon.
"It'll be okay," Jackie said squeezing my hand, "you'll land it."
"Easy for you to say!" I said nervously. I could feel the blood draining from my face and butterflies dancing in my stomach as the judges walked out sitting in their places.
I couldn't even pay attention as Miss. Liz our coach gave us words of encouragement.
"Alright," Miss. Liz said as she was done "now sit in your alphabetical order." We all knew where we were suppose to sit so we went in our places and got ready I was near the front but wasn't the first.
"Deep breaths." Jackie whispered in my ear. I took deep breaths before the judges called my name.
"Sydney Dawn." I thought I was going to throw up. Jackie pushed me forward and flashed thumbs up at me as I turned around getting ready for the routine. I went and got some more chalk on my hands because the chalk before on my hands had sweated off. I took a death breath approaching the bar.
