As Belly and Adelina entered the tea party, the difference between them was stark. Belly, clearly uncomfortable, shifted awkwardly in her floral dress, her eyes scanning the room with unease. Meanwhile, Adelina seemed right at home, a soft smile playing on her lips as she took in the chatter around them. Her light pink, fluffy dress with its flowing sleeves, paired with white heels and delicate lacey gloves, made her look like she had stepped out of a vintage movie. The pearl necklace and earrings, along with the light pink fascinator, completed the picture of effortless grace.
Adelina could sense Belly's nerves but gave her a reassuring nudge as they settled at their table. Belly wasn't used to this crowd, but Adelina knew how to play the part. She leaned in, listening with polite amusement as Marisa talked about bringing her girlfriend to the ball.
"I told my mom the only way I would do this is if I could bring my girlfriend," Marisa said, a grin on her face. Adelina smiled at the conversation, impressed by Marisa's boldness. The talk shifted to college applications, and Adelina, though smiling on the outside, felt a slight tug in her chest when she noticed Steven pouring Shayla's tea, Shayla leaning in to whisper something in his ear. The way Steven smiled back made Adelina's stomach twist, but she masked her emotions quickly, refocusing on the conversation at hand.
