"All right." Lizzie remarked as she watched the two boys, who were choosing weapons. Lizzie, Joe, Reacher and Tommy were all at a firing range that she along with Tommy's parents had set up ages ago.

"When did you become the owner of a licensed firing range?" Reacher asked and she looked over at him, before she walked over to one of the guns that was sitting on the table.

"I'm co-owner. Tommy's parents own the lion's share of it, I just manage the place. I kicked everybody else out for the day." Lizzie noted as she was grabbing something out from under the table. "Here." She said as she held out a gun to him.

Reacher took the gun silently and he inspected it quickly, before he pointed it at the nearby target and he fired. Tommy and Joe both turned around to look at where the gunshot had come from, before Reacher shrugged. "Magnum Research Desert Eagle?" He clarified and she was nodding. "Where the hell did you get all of this weapons anyways?" Reacher questioned as she was picking up a familiar gun, a sniper rifle that she was used to using.

"My mom." Tommy said from where he was inspecting knives that were laid out on another table. "She is a federally licensed arms dealer." He explained and he picked up a Glock 19. "Nice, what guns doesn't my mom have?" He wondered.

"Any illegal ones." Joe replied and Tommy hit him on the arm at the words, before Joe was kicking him in the ankle as retaliation.

"Hey!" Both of them snapped to attention at Lizzie's sudden snap. "You're here at the range to learn what weapons work best for you, considering what the situation is. It's a rapidly changing and evolving scenario, which means that you have to keep yourselves on your toes. Pick a weapon, fire it and see how it feels. Let's go." She said bluntly and the two looked like they had been scared into listening as they were walking away quickly.

"You're almost as scary as I am." Reacher said and Lizzie was shaking her head, before she was inspecting her old McMillan TAC-50. "Well, that's an old friend that I haven't seen in a while." He said and Lizzie walked over to Joe, who put the knives down.

"Try it." Lizzie said and Joe took the modified rifle, looking down at it. "It won't hurt you, unless you're dumb enough to point it at your own foot." She remarked as she was gesturing over at the targets. "Go on." She said and he sighed. "Or don't. But it's good to have at least one long-range weapon in your arsenal that isn't the ability to throw knives." Lizzie stated as she was grabbing another one.

Joe fired at the target and Reacher immediately raised his eyebrows at the target, seeing where it landed. Right in the equivalent of "the head" on the target and Reacher looked over at Lizzie, who was nodding slightly.

"Whoa, who the hell trained you?" Reacher asked, only partially joking and Lizzie lifted the gun, narrowing her eyes at the target before she pulled the trigger and fired the gun. Reacher spotted the multiple gunshot holes in the head of the target as he nodded slightly. "No further words needed." He said.

Lizzie had set up a training course for Joe and Tommy, with the cameras set up inside of the barn where the training course was.

Lizzie watched the monitors as the boys were going through the training course as a team. "How are they doing?" Reacher asked and they were both watching the screens as she sighed.

"They are really good at this, Reacher, really good. I'm just really worried about what that means for them wanting to get involved." Lizzie admitted and she was watching the screens with the familiar analytical gaze, that had helped her survive through multiple different situations.

"You're worried about Joe." Reacher noted and she was nodding slightly. "If his skills in combat are anything else like yours, then that kid will be just fine." He said and she looked over at him.

"I can't lose him." Lizzie admitted and she looked down at the floor, before she sat on the chair and she was watching. "I have lost my parents already and all of us, we lost Joe yesterday." She pointed out and he looked at the screens, before he was pulling up a chair of his own.

Meanwhile after staying just outside of the barn, Joe and Tommy were both holding different guns in their hands and they looked at one another. "This is absolutely crazy." Tommy muttered and then, both of them were carefully pushing their way into the barn.

A target lit up on the left and Tommy ducked, as Joe fired his gun and the light on the target went dead, indicating that he would have killed the person. Another light lit up with a ping and Joe fired a shot off, again the light went off.

Tommy fired at the two that were on the second level and before he reacted, Joe was grabbing one of the knives that Tommy had tucked away and without waiting, he threw it at the last of the targets.

The light went dead and the two of them walked out of the barn, where they were met by Reacher and Lizzie. "You guys did good back there. Who the hell taught you guys how to shoot like that?" Reacher asked.

"I taught Joe." Lizzie replied and Joe was nodding, before Tommy shrugged quickly at the words.

"My mom taught me how to fight and my dad taught me how to throw knives how I can. But, I just had to teach myself how to shoot like I do." Tommy said and then, he quietly sighed at the words before he looked up. "Somebody's coming." He said.

Lizzie grabbed a gun from the edge of the barn and Reacher held a gun in his hand as well.

Tommy grabbed for his pistol at his side and then, Joe's eyes went over to Lizzie, who was slowly nodding swiftly. "Joe and Tommy, get upstairs." Lizzie murmured as now, she was switching guns with Tommy.

The two younger guys, they were now holding a pair of modified McMillan TAC-50 in their hands, and they were both climbing up onto the second floor.

Joe and Tommy had the guns set up and ready, pointed directly at the police car and Joe's eyes were narrowed, now only waiting for the signal from his mom to move. "Hold your fire, it's me!" Roscoe shouted and her hands were up in a surrender position and a moment later, she was walking over to them all.

"We're good." Lizzie said and Joe was nodding, before they were climbing back down again. Tommy switched guns with Lizzie again, before they were all looking at one another. "What the hell are you doing out here, Roscoe?" She asked and now she was hanging the gun across her back, like how Joe had his.

"We got a situation. Another body just dropped and... It was Chief Morrison." A dark look passed over Lizzie's face and then, she was nodding.

"All right. Joe, you are going to take the truck and go home." Lizzie said and Joe's mouth snapped open to protest. "Kid... I don't ask for much, but for the love of God just..." Joe's eyes were swiftly narrowing at the tone in his mom's voice, before he held out a hand for the keys.

Lizzie tossed the keys over to him, before Joe was driving the truck off of the property and now, he was swiftly heading away from the direction that they were going.
