All will be explained at the end, dear friends.

Abi sat on the beach, sniffling as her salty tears mixed with the seawater on her skin. Her mood was a stark contrast to the surroundings, a huge tropical beach: complete with beautiful white sand; palm trees; and a calm, clear, turquoise-blue lagoon. It was quiet, serene, and it sickened Abi. This trip was supposed to have been a romantic getaway from their busy, noisy and rather public lives back in London, a little time in a fantasy to escape from a harsh reality. But all too soon that fantasy was shattered, as Abi had caught her beloved at the bar with his tongue in the mouth of another after returning from a walk in the shallows of the warm sea. She had been doubting his fidelity for a month or so now, but had never wanted to believe her suspicions and was now paying the price of remaining blissfully ignorant. The young woman pushed her hair back from her face and wiped her eyes with her scarf, careful not to get sand in them and set her mouth in a firm line. She would not be staying in the same room as her ex-lover for the remainder of this trip, but she would be damned if she was to be the one to book a new room. It wasn't as if she couldn't afford it, in fact she was paying for most of this trip seeing as she brought the most money into the household (note to self: kick that cheating lying dirtbag out of the apartment when you get back, it's in your name after all). Deciding to pick herself up and get over it already, she stood confidently and turned to make her way back to her room. That's when she saw him. He was a strong but silent type, she could tell just by looking at him. His dark eyes glimmered in the hot exotic sun, and he looked concerned. Abi smiled shyly, knowing it was fairly obvious she had been crying.
"Oh, hi. I, uh, didn't hear you come over..." she murmured slightly awkwardly, something about this newcomer that made her feel comforted and wanted, despite him being a stranger. He stood beside her, offering to hear her troubles, and she smiled thankfully, happy to have someone to vent to. Part of her said that she should get away from him, but something kept her there and caused her to open up her mouth and let loose a torrent of words and angry curses as she recounted her plight. Once she was finished with her tale and had sufficiently calmed down, she turned to the stranger and inquired his name. He replied, telling her that it was Dave. A simple name, sure, but it was one that Abi had always liked. She smiled and listened as Dave explained his reason for coming to her aid. It turned out that he too had been in a relationship with an unfaithful partner, and knew the signs of a hurt heart well.
"Hurt? Don't you mean broken?" Abi asked, and Dave shook his head, explaining that if you could love again so soon then your heart could not be broken, only hurt. Abi felt a pang of jealousy, envious of the dame that Dave had fallen for. But she smiled and nodded.
"I suppose, yes. You are very kind, Dave. Thank you." she said quietly, and Dave smiled and went a little pink in response. Abi chuckled and sighed, biting her lip.
"Hm, you don't suppose you could accompany me to a disco tonight? I would like to go but I don't like being on my own." she inquired, and Dave nodded vigorously, clearly very happy to be asked. Abi blushed a little, and smiled.
"Well alright, I'm on the 7th floor, room 437. I'll be ready for 9pm. I trust you'll pick me up?" the brunette asked, referring to the island's only hotel. Dave smiled in confirmation and Abi hugged him before walking away, glancing back to see Dave's slightly red face.

There was no reason for her to be this nervous, but here she was, trembling ever so slightly as her stomach did flips. She checked her makeup for what seemed like the hundredth time in the floor length mirror on the door of the wardrobe. Maybe it was because Josh had come by earlier, pleading forgiveness which Abi had flat out denied, and when he tried to force his way in she shut the door on him. Literally, as it slammed closed on his nose, creating a rather sickening crunch and a lot of blood as Abi ran to call for the hotel's security. Once he had been dragged away, Abi was left shaky and jumpy, although she had calmed down considerably since then. She shook her head free of such thoughts, and smoothed out the single wrinkle in her black jeans. She wondered if it was acceptable to wear a Panic! At The Disco top to a nightclub and decided she didn't care, adjusting her My Chemical Romance bracelet. There was a knock on her door, and she ran to answer it, careful not to trip.
"Hey Dave! You ready?" she almost squealed, suddenly unbelievably excited. Dave nodded and took her hand, leading her through the hotel and following the sound of loud music and drunks. The music drowned out most things, but thankfully was not unbearable. She and Dave grabbed a drink, then made their way to the dance floor just as one of Abi's favourite songs came on.
