Seoyun's POV

I walked into class with a hood since I cried so hard yesterday, that I woke up with puffy eyes.

"Did something happened between you and Jay after we left?" Hana attempted to comfort me, but I shook my head.

Oh, none of them knew about my mom.

They thought that my current parents are my biological parents.

I laid my head on my desk as I closed my eyes while trying to catch up on some sleep. "Is Seoyun here?" I heard a familiar voice.

"Seoyun, I'm really sorry." I ignored him.

"I got you a croissant, eat it while it's warm." He placed the croissant on my desk, before leaving. After confirming that he left, I slowly sat up while eyeing the croissant.

I have a soft spot for croissant.

I bit my lips, as I took the croissant and I tossed it into the bin. "Was what he did really bad?" Chaeyeon asked and I shook my head.

"I've never seen you this mad before." Hana said, and I shook my head. "I'm fine guys. I just need some time alone." They nodded, and left me alone.

During lunch time, I didn't have the appetite to eat anything either.

I wasn't mad at Jay, I just missed my mom.

Okay, maybe a little mad at Jay.

Hey, the feeling of being used is pretty crappy.

I closed my eyes as I attempted to take a nap for the thousandth time. Just as I was about to doze off, I heard the sound of paper packaging near me.

I opened my eyes and I saw a bag in front of me. I sat up and Jake was standing by my desk. "Oh. Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up."

I looked over at the bag, "It's not good to have an empty stomach, so I got you a muffin." I opened the bag and saw a muffin

"Thanks Jake." I said, "but you really don't need to do this." He pursed his lips.

He nodded, "Okay, I'll just take it back" He attempted to take the bag back.

Just then, my stomach grumbled. He eyed me, "I just ate, and I'm so full! I don't have the space to eat anything else." He said while rubbing his stomach. "You should eat it."

"Hey, are you okay?" I nodded without looking up at him.

Jake dragged a chair and sat next to me, "Anyone could see that you're clearly not okay." I looked over at him, "What did Jay Park do?"

I shook my head, "I just missed my mom."

His expression softened, "I opened the box of things that she left yesterday, and I guess I just wished that she's here still."

"I understand. I missed my parents too, but I don't exactly remember them either." Jake chuckled lightly.

"When were you left at the orphanage?" He thought for a bit, "I think when I was a few months old. Apparently my parents didn't have the financial ability to raise me."

I nodded, "I guess we're the same then."

Jake pointed at the muffin, "You should eat up before your sadness eats you up." I let out a slight chuckle as I took a bite.

"Is it good?" I tilted the muffin towards him, "You want a bite?" He shook his head.

I shrugged as I continued eating. "So, the other time you asked about the part-time job, were you serious about looking for one?"

I nodded, "I have expensive tastes, and I don't exactly have enough time to participate in every competitions."

"Why? Do you know of somewhere that's hiring?" Jake nodded, "It's actually the cafe that I'm working at. We urgently need people." I nodded.

"Sure, when do I start?" He seemed slightly shocked, "I'll check with my manager."

Jake's POV

I didn't know that Seoyun was serious about working at the cafe, so I lied that we urgently needed people.

In actual fact, we have more than enough people.

I quickly messaged Aera asking if she needs to hire anyone, but she hasn't replied me yet.

"My manager hasn't replied me." She nodded while munching on the muffin, "It's fine. I'm not exactly in a rush either."

"So all your bags are bought by yourself?" She thought for a bit, "I'd say most of them. Like this one here!" She held up her bag pack.

She smiled, "I got it recently with the cash money I won from the violin competition. Isn't she pretty?" I glanced over at Seoyun, and I nodded.

She's indeed pretty.

Wait.

What?

My eyes widened as I shook my head, causing her to glare at me. "You don't think she's pretty?" She sounded intimidating.

"S-She's pretty!" I said, "What about her is pretty?" I stared at the bag intensely. Honestly it just looks like every other bag pack.

Seoyun let out a chuckle, "I'm just teasing you." she placed the bag back on the ground.

Just then, I heard a knock of the door and we turned to see Jay standing by the door. "Seoyun, can I talk to you?" I glanced over at Seoyun.

She hesitated for a bit before nodding. "Guard my muffin." She said, before leaving the classroom with Jay.

I stared at her muffin and a small chuckle escaped my mouth, "I can't believe I'm guarding her muffin for real."

I peered over at the door, I wonder what they're talking about. "Should I?" I muttered to myself, before shaking my head. "That'll be eavesdropping."

Yeah.

The next thing I know, I'm by the door trying to hear what they're talking about.

"It's true that initially I got closer to you with intentions, but now I actually want to get to know you." I puffed up my cheeks.

"Will you give me a chance?"

I shook my head, before walking back to my seat.

It's wrong to eavesdrop.

Okay, maybe I just didn't want to know Seoyun's response.
