back story:

Sofia Carter was born into a loving family with her mother Andrea Carter and her father Marcus Carter.

She was the light of their life's for as long as she can remember. Until one day her family's world came crashing down. She and her mom got into a car accident resulting in her mothers death.

This caused her father to start drinking heavily and he became very abusive towards her blaming her for the whole thing. One day her friends noticed the bruises and marks on her body and tried to help her get away from her father, but that only ended up with Sofia in a coma for two weeks.

From that point on, Sofia's father packed up their lives and moved her from Texas to Outer banks in North Carolina.
