Ophidian's Genesis (UNDER REVISION)

CHAPTER 7

"I woke up and did some chores, of course, I was going to water the plants, but when I looked at my flowers someone picked my precious daffodils!" Their neighbor said. Melody looked uncomfortable while Jessica grimaced.

They opted not to show the bouquet to the elderly woman. "I'm so sorry Missus Iris, I really don't know who, this is the first time we're hearing about it." Melody apologizes. "And this is my sister's friend and she's from another neighborhood. She came to visit so she really has no idea who's done it." The younger girl added.

Jessica had a gut feeling. It was only strengthened when this case of missing daffodils and the ladder near Seline's bedroom was down where she really believed someone was messing with them. The elderly woman looked over at Jessica, "Oh you must be Seline's best friend? I'm so sorry for what happened, dear. Seline was so young." Missus Iris sympathized. "You too Melody, I'm so sorry for what happened to your older sister." She added.

The two gave a sad smile and nod. The elderly woman gave them a basket of oatmeal cookies, in hopes it helps them feel better before going back to her rocking chair on her porch.

"What a sweet lady." Jessica commented. "Back to the topic! Now we know someone's been messing with us!" Melody says.

The two agreed that before they jump into any conclusions, they would just assume someone was pranking them. As much as Jessica would want to continue, she was tired.

"Can't we take a break? I'm kind of out of it today." She says, "We can chill in your sister's bedroom and find out some things." Jessica lazily adds.

Melody huffed, not really content with how Jessica is acting, almost as if she's trying to hold back a tantrum. Jessica, totally surprised with how Melody is acting, 'I wonder how Seline deals with her younger sister.' She thought to herself.

Jessica has never seen the younger girl act this much. Mostly Melody has her occasional attitude with Seline but never a tantrum hold back.

"Fine." Melody grumbled as she tried to not stomp her way in the house. Jessica sighs, thinking how she got stuck this way but then again knows the answer.

They enter Seline's room and Affie follows behind them unbeknownst. Affie hopped up Seline's bed and Melody, completely annoyed, "AFFIE! GET THE FUCK OFF!" She yelled at the dog followed by an almost smack if only Affie didn't dodge.

The dog's ears were down-turned as he hopped off the bed, almost looking like he was putting his head down in shame. "Hey! Mels, you can't do that!" Jessica shrieked.

Melody rolled her eyes, "He was annoying me." Jessica looked at her in disbelief but before she thought about yelling at her she breathed deeply, "Melody, I know you want to get to the bottom of this and you are frustrated, but don't take it out on the dog." She managed to reprimand her calmly—even though she was very mad at her for almost hitting the dog.

Melody groaned loudly, "Why do you care so much about the stupid dog? We have to do things right now!" The thirteen-year-old sat down on her sister's bed.

"Affie also misses Seline, he feels what you feel. Heck, she took care of him since he was four weeks old, she was basically a mama to him." Although she was frustrated, Jessica restrained herself to say any more.

Affie was Seline's dog since the two were in fifth grade. While the pair walked home from school, a truck with puppies was parked a block from their school. People gathered to see the adorable pups and although it was a stupid decision to try and endanger themselves by going in the crowd that bunched up at a sketchy truck with puppies, Jessica convinced Seline to go check it out anyway.

Once the crowd cleared, a few puppies were left. There, she saw the smallest and husky-looking puppy. His siblings in the litter were trying to outshine him by trying to charm them.
