Samuil's POV...
Still eating together, I noticed Hyrur's hesitant look. Though, I didn't say anything, I didn't even know what to say, really. I simply just ate, wondering if the two of us would be allowed to love one another and make peace between our kingdoms.
Surely not, right? It's forbidden, not to mention, both of our parents would hate us and probably agree on punishments to give. If anything, THAT would make our kingdoms allies.
I sighed as I finished my meal, just as he did, too. We both stood up and got everything cleaned up, though it was tense in the silence. However, the winds outside were wild and louder than usual. I'm hoping we'll be found soon.
Our kingdoms probably aren't looking for us yet, it hasn't been that long. We'd have to be here for a month or more, and only then would search teams be sent out. This cold weather is also an obstacle, so even if they were looking... They wouldn't be too sharp or thorough.
Breaking the silence, I spoke up as it was noticeably colder in the bunker.
"Hyrur, any ideas for maintaining warmth tonight? The last thing we want is hypothermia." I said, trying not to shiver.
Despite how much I loved the cold, there were times it was unpleasant or too much. Meanwhile, Mr. Birdy hates it no matter what. He grumbled, obviously displeased at the sudden drop in temperature.
"I guess we can cuddle, but we should try making a tent over the bed to trap in body heat." He said, shivering as his wings pressed close to his body.
I sighed, walking over to him and wrapping my arms around him to warm him up. We'll get through this together, I promise. Just hold on for me.
He grunted in confusion, but didn't push me away, which was surprising. I chuckled as I guided him to the bed and began making a makeshift tent over the bed with a few spare sheets and blankets. Sitting down beside him, I folded the last blanket to prevent air from getting in or out too much, and immediately it started getting warm.
I sighed as I snuggled against Hyrur, but we both knew this was wrong, despite our growing fondness.
Loving an enemy was grounds for execution, no matter what. It didn't matter of the enemies in question were soulmates or not, it was the law. Though, maybe if we got lucky... Our parents might just marry us off to one another for peace between kingdoms?
I hope that's the case, then the stubborn prick wouldn't be able to reject me. I love him, but damnit he's a stubborn featherbed.
I felt Hyrur begin to purr as he fell asleep, even though it was a bit earlier than usual. But, I let him have a nap. Afterall, he was warm and comfortable, and for once he wasn't insulting me for stupid shit. I'd just keep watch for now and make sure the bunker didn't fall apart.
I snuggled closer to Hyrur, smiling as his wings wrapped around me. I felt myself getting sleepy, too.
Yawning, my eyes shut and I drifted off beside him in the warmth of our makeshift shelter. We'll figure this out eventually.
