Open My Eyes - (A SeeJinx Story)

My World Turned Upside Down

       I woke up from the sound of muffled yelling and cursing. I sat up in bed with tears in my eye, only to notice them and wipe them away. Turning to the door, I let out a soft sigh as I realize that Mammoth was having another mental breakdown of some sort.

Ever since Jinx has disappeared, everyone has felt a bit off. Mammoth seems to be upset with occasional yelling and slamming in his room, though none of us dare to check. Gizmo doesn't know what to do with himself, as he's always working on something in his garage-like room. Kyd Wykkyd just walks around, which isn't like him at all. Billy is talking to his clones a lot more than usual, and his favorite room in our base is the living room. Or whatever's left of it...

Our base has been a mess since that speedster Kid Flash had his way with it... Kid Flash.. Just remembering him... Everything he's done.. Destroying our base... And I'd assume he's taken Jinx, too... The way he spoke to her during the interrogation.. I can't believe HE managed to get to her somehow.

I quickly pause my thoughts and shift in bed. Everything became so boring and nearly meaningless.. It's difficult to get up every morning, knowing that I'll probably never see her face again... But, looking on the bright side, I still have my friends..er..comrades... I easily forget that villains shouldn't be called friends, but I can't help it.

We've lived with each other for so long that we even feel like family! Well.. That's what I think at least... I can't speak for everyone here. I still hope that we can all be considered friends, even if we are villains... Gah.. I'm over thinking again.. Might as well get out of bed...

I slowly sit up and stretch my arms out a bit. Sleep has been most of my only comfort since Jinx left.. It's been almost a week since then. I can't help but feel betrayed by our former leader.. Standing up, I yawn and don't bother to fix up my sheets. Sure, I'm a very messy sleeper, and my sheets are always all over the place.. But I could care less at the moment.

The door makes a soft humming sound as it slowly opens up. I knew that the wiring was damaged since it opens up slowly now, but most of base is messed up like this, and Gizmo hasn't done anything about it. Don't blame him though... Everything has felt so out of place since... Jeez.. why can't I stop thinking about her...? I need to move on.. She clearly did...

Making my way to the 'living room' I sat at the sofa. Billy Numerous takes a quick glance in my direction. I smile a bit, though I don't really feel like it. Billy quickly returns the smile.

"Mornin' partner.."

"Mornin'..." I say with a more genuine smile. Billy's positivity always brings a smile to my face. Though he usually tells me that I'm the most positive out of the HIVE. I honestly don't know what to think about it.. All I can say is that I try my best...

      "How's today been treatin' ya so far? You're usually out here earlier.. I already beat Billy in this here game too many times to count.."

     "Hey, it ain't fair that my side of the screen is done hanging off and broken!" Another Billy retorted, and the previous Billy laughs.

      "Nah.. I'm good, bro..." I lean back against the sofa and let out another sigh. Both Billy's turn my way with a bit of a concerned frown.

"How 'bout a bit of a distraction? I can try to convince them other three to tag along.. What do you say 'bout one of them bone displays-?" Billy Numerous has a wide grin on his face, as if expecting me to know what he means...

"Um...sure.. But what do you mean 'bone displays'..?"

"I mean one of them museum thingys..."

"Ohh... Right.. Gotcha.. I'm all in" The smile returns to my face as excitement fills my body. It's been a while since something thrilling has occurred... And I hope this was going to be fun.

       Jinx looks out into the sunset. She is lost in thought as the breeze hits her cheeks gently. Her frown only increases as her thoughts torment her...

     Did I really make the right decision..? This doesn't feel as good as I thought it would... Sure, Kid Flash isn't going to leave me behind... He saw the good in me, but was that real? I don't know which makes me happier... Kid Flash, or my former friends- No, classmates-? Comrades-? My former team... I shouldn't miss them. They were just annoying and useless, right....?

      "Something on your mind?" Kid Flash asks suddenly, causing Jinx to flinch.

       "No- And I told you not to scare me like that..." She says this with a slightly defensive tone, catching Kid Flash off guard.

       "Woah.. chill..." He raises his hands up in a defensive manner as well. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to, but.. How else do I bring you back to Earth-? You looked completely lost..."

       "I'm not lost.." She doesn't bother to answer the other question. She just continues to look out into the sunset.

       "I know something's wrong... You can't deny it.."

       "Wow... I guess you do know everything.." Her tone was sarcastic. She didn't like it when Kid Flash calls her out.. She didn't like anyone doing it, mainly because she doesn't want to talk about it.

       "Umm... Maybe not everything... But I do know what makes you happy..." He says this with a slight smirk as he rests his hands on her shoulders.

       "I guess so..."

       "C'mon Jinx... Don't act like this.. I miss your smile. What happened to you..?"

       "Nothing-" She sounds a bit angry as she steps away from Kid Flash's touch. "I'm fine.. really..."

       Kid Flash just frowns a bit. He really doesn't know how Jinx feels, but he wants her to feel better..

       Lately, she's been so distant.. I can't help but worry... Jinx.. I hope everything is okay. I also hope you aren't reconsidering being a hero... No.. That's crazy talk... No way she's rethinking that.. But... No- That's impossible... She loves me, she wouldn't do that to me...

       (Author Here! I hope you're enjoying this 'prologue' of the story. I'm still considering on different events to play out. If you have any suggestions, please tell me here. I'll do my best to include as many as I can. I'll also try to write longer parts, since shorter ones are usually less intriguing. I'm hoping I don't take longer than a month to publish each part.. I appreciate it if you've read this far to see this)
