"It's another lousy day." Settling down on the same old bed in my room, I sighed. "Nothing to do, nowhere to go." I stared out the window at the bustling cars and the Tokyo tower. It's been a thousand years since the end of the great war and everything's been great. The world is stable, the economy is growing - everyday we make a little more progress and advancement.
In the initial days, I was overflooded with work and there was barely any time to think, but nowadays I have nothing but time.
<Why not create another world and have fun, Master?> my companion would say.
"But I have already explored all the interesting ones. And to be honest, its not that much fun anymore," would be my reply. For the first 500 years, that was my best pastime but the saying isn't false - too much of anything will eventually get you bored. Needless to say, I won't be touching another world for the next 500 years. "I need something different, something creative." I demanded. "Let's think- What was that!?"
A sudden noise, like the eruption of a volcano exploded from my front door. I got up and rushed towards the front gate, or what remained of it.
"Wahahaha!" a cute voice devoid of any remorse or repentance called out to me from the rubble. "Hi there, Rimuru! How have you been doing?"
"How many centuries will it take for you to finally learn how to open a door!" I burst out, staring angrily at the oblivious face smiling cutely amidst the cloud of smoke.
"Tee-hee."
"You... ugh. Forget it. So, how did you find me? The only ones who knew where my real body was are Shuna, Rigurd and Diablo." I had left a parallel existence worth 5% of my soul back in Tempest to handle the everyday tasks while I relax in my secret hideout like always. It's in a separate dimension built to resemble my old world, completely cut off from the cardinal world. I never thought anyone, let alone Milim, could ever find it.
"I just had a little chat with Rigur- that's not important right now!" shouted Milim, jumping out of the rubble. She walked towards the kitchen with a serious expression, opened the cupboard, unloaded my emergency stock and swung the door back casually. She then collapsed on my bed, making herself comfortable. "I am getting bored, do something." She demanded while opening a pack of chips.
"..." I stood there, watching her as she munched the entire thing one by one.
"What?"
"You realize this is my house, right?" I said finally.
"Is that so?" she replied, opening the next one. "Anyways, how about we do another labyrinth challenge?"
*sigh*
Fine, I give up.
"Didn't you complete one of those just 10 years ago with Veldora?"
"Yeah, but there's nothing else to do. Exploring other worlds has become boring as of late."
Sadly, that's true. Other than exploring worlds, our only source of entertainment is the labyrinth challenge. Basically, we enter the Tempest Labyrinth in a separate avatar. The avatar is very weak in the beginning and levels up and upgrades as we defeat monsters and obtain better equipment. It is a very interesting job and the four of us - Me, Milim, Ramiris and Veldora, were addicted to it like crazy a couple centuries ago, so much so that we would spend decades cut off from the real world. It was an endless spree of grinding, levelling, fighting, and upgrading. However, it has lost its luster and just seems like a chore nowadays.
"I am not interested," I said, snatching the last pack of snacks before it could get devoured. "Just ask Ramiris, Dino or Veldora to go with you this time."
"Ehhhh? I already asked Veldora and Ramiris but they refused," said Milim. "Veldora said he was more interested in exploring other worlds, Ramiris was busy with her new experiment and that good-for-nothing Dino dies before even reaching the fifth floor! It's no fun with him."
Sure enough. I can't imagine Dino putting any kind of effort into it.
"You see, I have no one else to ask but you!" continued Milim, her cute puppy eyes staring at me pleadingly.
"Wahaha, too bad for you I am immune to-"
*sob*
"Wha-"
*sob*
W-why are you crying- it's not fair!
"R-rimuru... I..." she said with a heavy throat. Somehow, it made her cute childish voice even more cuter. Not to mention her teary puppy eyes, which were raring to pierce my heart. Still though, I am not weak enough to-
<Master, you should accept Milim-chan's proposal.> said Ciel reprimandingly. <You have nothing better to do anyways.>
'What? You too Ciel? Why...'
Recently, Ciel has been defending Milim and taking her side more than usual. I have also noticed her reacting more strongly to situations involving emotions and sentiments than she did a few centuries ago. Is she becoming more emotional with time? Argh! it's hard enough to resist this overflowing cuteness as is, I can't handle a pouting Ciel as well.
"F-fine! Just stop crying already!" I said, unable to bear it anymore.
"Yess!!" jumped up Milim with a smile.
"... You didn't take long to drop your act."
"Did you say something?"
"Nothing." I replied.
"Yosh, I will beat you this time for sure!" said Milim and got up. "Let's-"
A sudden noise, like the splitting of a continent thundered from my back door.
"What now..."
I immediately rushed to my back door, or what remained of it.
"Kuahahaha!" a bold voice devoid of any regret and awareness called out to me from the rubble. "Yo there, Rimuru. How have you been doing?"
"You too, Veldora..." I said with a sigh. "I assume you had a little chat with Rigurd too?"
"Wha- how did you know?" he asked, jumping with surprise.
Poor Rigurd. I feel bad for him.
"So, why did you come here?"
"You see, I have been getting bored recently and-"
"You are late, Veldora!" said Milim, reaching to the site. "Rimuru has already agreed to do a Labyrinth challenge with me."
"What!? Is that true?" asked Veldora disappointedly. "But I wanted you to create another world for us to explore..." He looked at me dejectedly.
Quite a pickle, isn't it? Even though Veldora isn't a cute little girl like Milim, seeing him this sad hurts a little. 'Hey Ciel, what do you think?'
<Master, why not fulfil both of their wishes at once?>
'Huh? What do you mean-'
At that moment, an idea stuck my mind like a bolt of lightning.
"Veldora, you want to explore another world and Milim, you want to do the dungeon challenge, right?" I said, grabbing their attention.
"Yeah," They both replied.
"Then, let's do both!"
