"y/n wake up we have to leave in an hour and you still haven't finished packing" is what I heard coming from the other side of my bedroom door. As I sat up I took in my surroundings, boxes stacked on top of each other, some half full and some completely empty. Today is the day, the day my family and I move to Tallaght in Ireland. It is my chance at a fresh start finally. I loved where I lived, my entire family live around here so it was definitely a bittersweet feeling, I had however recently come out to my friends at college and lets just say they didn't take it well, I found myself dealing with homophobic insults thrown at me and on occasion being shoved and pushed by the horrible people I had to call classmates. When my dad announced we would be moving to Ireland because of a new job opportunity he had I was so excited to move somewhere I could be myself from the get go. My parents and brother were accepting of me when I told them and I think that part of my dad's decision to move was to give me and my brother a fresh start, to meet new people.

I eventually got up and threw on a simple grey tracksuit, then I finished off my packing before getting my younger brother Ryan to help me carry the boxes to the car. "Why have you got so many boxes you can't need all of it surely" I just handed my brother another box and told him to get on with it.
A while later I was stood outside our house for the last time with my parents and Ryan, as my dad locked the front door I took in a deep breath as the nerves had started to get to me. Pretty much as soon as I got in the car I fell asleep despite the lack of room with half of our house also shoved in the back.
The next thing I remember is my dad pulling the car to a stop in front of our new home. It was the most beautiful old building with so much more room than our old city house, I guess that was another good thing about moving to a more rural area.

I started moving my stuff into my new room when the removal van turned up. I couldn't find my parents and I hadn't seen Ryan since we got out of the car so i decided to attempt to get my bed and the rest of my furniture up to my room on my own.
Just as I was struggling with one of the bigger pieces I heard someone shout from over the fence. "You want some help there?" just as quickly as I heard the voice I saw a girl around my age walk up to me and grab the other end of the heavy chest of drawers. We managed to get them into my room and it was only then that I realised this girl was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Her gorgeous brown hair neatly tied up showed off her features, her eyes lit up as she smiled at me, she was wearing what looked to be some kind of training kit. "Good job I was walking past hey? I'm Katie by the way" she held out her hand to shake. "I'm y/n, thank you for helping I have no idea where my family are they're supposed to be helping". "Well I'm happy to help you with the rest and I'm really good at building things if you need a hand with that too?". I agreed and Katie and I set to work building the rest of my furniture and getting my room perfect.

A few hours past and we had completely finished my room. "Thank you so much Katie you have been amazing!" I said looking over at her finishing hanging a picture. "No problem I'm happy to help. Oh and if you want someone to show you around town I'd love to take you out for a drink". I looked at her trying to work her out, was this stranger asking me out on a date or was she just inviting me out because she thinks that is the polite thing to do? Before I could answer my mum walked in "oh y/n your room looks amazing, sorry I didn't help the neighbours saw us moving things in from the car and invited us in for a drink". "Ah yeah that sounds like my parents, I'm sorry if they were being really nosey they mean well" katie spoke up. "Wait you live next door?" i said, "yeah i forgot to mention that, I'm Katie by the way" she said holding her hand out to greet my mum. My mum shook her hand and told her it was lovely to meet her before going back downstairs to help my dad. "So what do you say to that drink" katie piped up, "i guess I'm free to go for a drink with the handy woman of the year" i joked with her. "Great! Here i'll give you my number and I'll text you the details, I really have to go and tell my mum off for being too nosey for her own good". I laughed and waved as she walked off.
I can't believe I have been here for a matter of hours and I have a date with a beautiful woman who just so happens to be my neighbour.
