A bolt of lightning lit up Stratus' determined face. Thunder shook the dragonets to the core and the wind threatened to pull them down to the earth.

"Wow, this storm is worse than I thought!" Quartz said, trying to get Stratus to talk. Stratus was, for some reason, very nervous and would refuse to talk to Quartz. This made no difference, as the wind was so strong they could barely fly, let alone keep up a conversation. They were finally out of the CloudWing kingdom. Then, suddenly, out in the near distance, they saw a tree fall because of the wind. Not long after thunder struck the tree and the tree snapped in half.

"Hey, um... Stratus?" Quartz started.

"What?" Stratus asked.

"I've noticed that ever since we left the CloudWing kingdom you were getting more shy and nervous. Why is that?" Quartz asked.

"I... I had a nightmare. Last night, I mean. I was dying and you couldn't save me. And then you were dead and I was dead and I was staring at my own dead body. And this- this huge dragon kept trying to kill me...Now I know why our parents don't want us to go on the quest. I don't want to leave your side but... I'm scared. What will happen to us?" Stratus, finished, her voice breaking and tears streaming down her face.

"Don't worry! We'll be alright if we stick together!" Quartz said, trying to cheer Stratus up. "To be honest, I'm worried just like you."

"It's just too much pressure! The whole continent is counting on us! Possibly the other continents if the ancient legends are true!"

"We should think on the positive side," Quartz said.

"Where should we go first?" Stratus asked, her eyes still glistening with tears.

"Maybe the BlazeWing kingdom? Or we could go to the VenomWing kingdom first," Quartz answered.

"Let's go to the BlazeWing kingdom first," Stratus said, wiping away her tears and righting herself in the air.

"Okay!" Quartz said as they started flying southwest, towards the BlazeWing Volcano.

"Hopefully we get at least one to join us," Stratus said. "I heard they have a pretty powerful lava-spit ability and they can burn other dragons. That would be useful if we got into a fight of some sort."

"We also probably need a VenomWing too. They can shoot acid, which would be another useful weapon we could use," Quartz added.

Cumulonimbus sat up. Outside, rain poured down, and lighting lit up the room through the window. Cumulonimbus sat up and climbed out of his bed, gently stepping around Emerald and sliding the door open. Standing in the doorway, Cumulonimbus could easily see the bed, but Stratus and Quartz were nowhere to be found.

"Oh no!" Cumulonimbus said. "Where are they?!"

"I thought they were still sleeping!" Emerald said worriedly. She must have just woken up and joined him in the doorway.

"What if something took them? What if they got captured? What if-," Cumulonimbus said as Emerald cut in, "What if they left on their quest?" Cumulonimbus opened the dresser drawer and checked if the armor was still there. It was empty, which meant they had taken their bags with them.

"Well, at least they brought all the stuff we bought for the quest," Emerald said, though Cumulonimbus knew that she was holding back tears.

"Why would they leave before telling us?" Cumulonimbus asked himself.

"I guess we need to tell the king and the queen," Emerald said, trying to change the subject.

"Alright let's go," Cumulonimbus said gloomily. They flew toward the palace.
