I don't think I should bring up the whole me finding the necklace and picture thing to Wally anytime soon. I don't want to pry on something that could be sensitive when it's clear he already doesn't like me. Plus, whatever happened to him in the past is really none of my business, and since that person isn't around anymore, there isn't really a reason for me to look into it any further.

There was, however, another question that I couldn't get out of my head all night that I planned on asking him about right away.

This time, when I got to his house, he was ready and waiting outside for me. He was sitting with his back rested against a tree as he ran his hand through the bright green grass. It was so strange, seeing him in his natural habitat. No friends to put on a mask for, no me to make him all moody. Just Wally.

As soon as Home saw me, it's shutters waved excitedly in greeting, alerting Wally of my presence.

"Good morning Home!" I giggled as I waved to the friendly house. "Never gonna get used to that."

Wally stood up from his spot on the ground, motioning me to follow him with a bored expression.

"Morning Wally." I gave a meek smile, holding my breathe as I waited to see if he would comment on me using his name or not.

To my surprise, he didn't. Instead, he gave a quiet groan in response, not even bothering to look in my direction.

I found myself studying his features as we walked in silence to Howdy's Bodega. I've found myself doing this often, just observing him. I know it sounds creepy but I can't help it; He's really just so fascinating. "Wow ok not helping my case I sound so creepy right now."

One detail I couldn't help but notice were the dark circles that have formed under his eyes. It's not odd that his eyes droop with a need for sleep, but right now it seems like he can barley keep them open.

"It's rude to stare darling." His tone wasn't rude, but it wasn't playful either. Something about the way he talked just seemed so monotone today.

"Did you sleep at all last night?" The comment was supposed to stay in my head, but judging by the surprised and irritated look he was currently giving me, I had just made a mistake.

His mouth hung open in surprise for a moment before he shut it and continued staring at the path ahead of us. "For my sanity and your safety, I'm going to pretend you didn't just insult my appearance."

My face flushed with a mix of fear and guilt "S-sorry. Just concerned is all." I kept my eyes trained on the chalk drawings that passed by under my feet.

"You? Concerned about me?" He let out a loud, ironic laugh, placing his hand on his chest for dramatic effect. "I'm not the one that has no idea where they are or how to get home."

I sighed, humming slightly in agreement with the irony of my question. "Just gotta make sure you're on your A game Watson." I chuckled a little at me own joke.

"Wha-!" His head spun to look at me as his hand flew to his chest dramatically. "I am no Watson! If anything I'm the Sherlock here."

"No way! I'm the one that was looking for clues back at Poppy's house!"

"And I'm the one with enough common sense to know that whoever did this knows how to cover their tracks and stay hidden. They wouldn't just leave evidence in plain sight." He scoffed.

I opened my mouth to give him another quick and witty response, but closed it when I realized he was actually right. "Well Watson and Wally sound similar and that's what really matters."
