There had been almost 20 minutes of silence between them. Eugenia and Vaso were now at the café near the painting gallery exhibition. The café was not too crowded for business. They both sat on a bench in a fairly quiet corner.

Eugenia broke into a cold sweat as Vaso sat opposite her with his arms folded. Neither of them wanted to break the silence. There was a sense of intimidation emitted by Vaso that made her very nervous.

"Uh, anu... Vaso..." she called out nervously.

"Hm?"

"What did you want to talk about earlier?" she asked back in a bolder voice.

Vaso looked at Eugenia silently. He sighed and flashed her soft, cash smile. "I just wanted to ask how you are. We haven't talked in a while..." he lamented.

"Ah, I see... I've been busy with my book project lately" Eugenia said softly, trying to neutralize the position of her heart that was beating so hard at the sight of Vaso's old look.

"Really? Because it does not look like when we are going out in the mall on the other day" Vaso suspected, worried about Eugenia's condition.

"W-What...? What do you mean? I'm fine" she panicked.

Vaso just looked at her without any serious meaning, he knew that Eugenia was not usually like this, he knew the attitude of his only friend.

"Please, you can tell me what's wrong with you... I'm worried, I'm really worried right now" Vaso pleaded.

Hearing Vaso's words made Eugenia feel guilty, but she didn't know what to say about this. Should she tell the truth or not? Was she telling the truth?

"...Vaso, actually I... I'm just worried about Grandpa, that's all, and the book project I have to finish this year is making me tired... That's all, really..." Eugenia lied. 'Sorry Vaso, I don't want our relationship to be ruined just because of this...' she thought to herself.

"I see... Then the reason you don't pick up the phone and avoid me is just because of that?" Still wondering about the reason said by Eugenia.

"Oh, that..." she took a comfortable sitting position. "I just thought that since you were dating, I wanted to keep my distance from you... I know it's a silly reason but, as a woman I don't want my boyfriend to pay more attention to his friends, right..." she explained trying to convince Vaso.

"...Oh. I never thought you would think like that..."

"Of course, I think that way, I also want to have a friend like Elisavet too. I don't want our friendship to be ruined just because of this."

Vaso looked at Eugenia intently, he understood what Eugenia was saying... He knew it very well. However, he never thought that the close friendship between him and Eugenia would cause problems in the future. "Alright..."

"But, please... If you call, try to pick it up. I'll be worried if you don't pick up."

"Hm, okay..."

The two of them spent some time just chatting. Vaso drove Eugenia home since they stayed until 8:00 pm. Although Eugenia was already an adult, her grandfather always reminded her to leave before 8:00 pm. In the past, Vaso had taken Eugenia to an amusement park until midnight. Her grandfather had called the police to look for Eugenia's whereabouts, which was an unfortunate experience and Vaso felt guilty about it. Hence, Vaso always took Eugenia before 8.00 pm or if their appointment was until midnight, he had to ask permission from Eugenia's grandfather.
