Chapter 1

A ray of light entered my room, hitting me on my face.

"Wake up Miss Evans" David said, one of the people who worked at our house "You're going to be late for school"

I stretched out and opened my eyes "What time is it?" I asked groggily

"8 in the morning"

I stood up and slipped in my flip-flops. David held my bathrobe so I could put it on

"Your breakfast is ready. Christopher is already downstairs and Maddy is on her way. Little Chace is still sleeping"

"Okay"

"At quarter to nine your car will be waiting for you and your siblings at the driveway"

I still hadn't got used to it. Dad made a fortune during summer holidays. A factory wanted to work with his office and paid an enormous amount of money so that he accepted. Besides, our grandfather died during Julie and left his goods to my mother. So, apparently we were rich. And in a family like ours, with four children and two adults, it was quite good. During summer we moved to this huge house that had its own private beach and hired like 10 people to work in the house.

We were a numerous family. My father, John, quiet young; my mother, Mery, very young as well; my older brother, Christopher, 18 years old and next year he left to college; my sister Maddy, 17 years old and the kind of sister everyone wants, she was all to me; me, Kristen, 16 years old, never been the most popular girl at school, don't get me wrong, I wasn't a nerd; and my little brother Chace, 5 years old and very funny.

I went down the stairs and into the kitchen

"Here you go" Gabe said, our cook, with a smile on his face "I hope you slept well Miss Evans"

"Thanks Gabe" I sat down at my usual seat, next to Maddy.

"Back to school" Maddy said with a sigh

"Last year" Christopher said with a smile on his face

"Hurray" I said, still groggy

Christopher laughed. I drank my coffee and got up

"Aren't you going to eat something?" Maddy asked

"No, I'm not hungry right now" I saw Maddy was about to protest and I cut her off "I'll take a granola bar or something"

As I said that, Gabe gave me an apple. "It's healthier" He winked.

I smiled and took the apple. "I'm going to my room" I said as I left the kitchen.  As I went up the huge marmol stairs I heard Chace's screams. He hated it when people woke him up. I opened my door and smiled as I inhaled the breeze from the sea. I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks. I went to one of the many huge windows my bedroom had and looked at the beach. My dog, a little westshire, was barking. He was on top of a rock that was completely surrounded by water.

"David, Toby's in the sea... Again" I screamed. I sighed and opened the door that gave to my closet.

I had spent most of my summer going out with my sister shopping. Dad had changed us to a private school, since we were the richest family in California, and I didn't want to be the girl nobody ever noticed. I had changed completely. I wasn't going to transform in the 'plastic' type of girl that only cared about the looks. I wasn't that superficial. I was only going to attract more attention to me. And I was going to start with it this year. In a school where nobody knew me and where nobody could judge me for whom I was before.
