rin's dream was to be the best striker. it was that dream that led him to meeting bachira. he still dreamed of being the best, but now he also dreamed of a future with bachira.
they were outside. bachira was running freely around the meadow even when the sun beat down on him. when bachira turned to him with that beaming smile, rin felt that bachira outshone the sun.
"be careful." he warned, just for the sake of warning him because rin knew bachira wouldn't listen anyway.
"rin-chan!" bachira gasped, his eyes staring at something rin couldn't see from his position. bachira turned to him with a mischievous grin and kicked his foot up. a football. rin could feel a smirk stretching across his own face as he set down whatever he was holding.
his heart was racing, beating too loudly in his ears. bachira was dribbling the ball to him, all bright smiles and childlike excitement. rin would never say it out loud but he missed this side of bachira. he missed playing football with bachira.
a meadow wasn't the most ideal place for football, rin realised, a kick too low uprooted flowers and tall grass disguised dips in the dirt. bachira would laugh when he'd fall and rin's exclamations of concern filled the quiet of the field.
and even though he felt like his heart had spiked to many times, rin couldn't deny the image of such a carefree bachira. rin felt warm. this was the future he dreamed of.
he was greeted by bachira's golden eyes and warm smile when he woke up and it felt as if his heart was being squeezed.
