"I'm sorry, he might not have long if we don't start the process soon" The doctor said and I could feel the tears falling down my face at his words.

After saying that, he left and I was forced to face my family. They're not fond of me but family is family. I've always tried to be nice to them but it's never reciprocated.

My step mom was sitting in the waiting area. Her dupatta in her hand as she kept wiping her tears.

My sister, who never cried in front of anyone was trying so hard to not let even a single tear out.

They looked up at me when I stood in front of them. I just shook my head and a whole set of new tears started falling down.

"The doctor said he needs to start the process soon. Dad won't survive if he doesn't go through the process" I informed them.

My step mom started crying more and more while my sister comforted her.

I put a hand on my sister's shoulder but she slapped it away and gave me a look for 'we don't need you here right now'

Taking that as my clue to leave, I wandered through the halls to dad's room.

There he was, peacefully reading his newspaper.

He did not look like he just had a heart attack and needs a surgery. Even the surgery is a huge risk, the doctor informed me that there is no 100% guarantee that it would be successful completely.

A smile formed on my dads lips as he saw me. He kept his newspaper aside and called me.

"Kaira beta ji, aap itne udaas kyu lag rahe ho?" He said with a little frown. My dad is old. Older than the dads of the people I grew up with.

He married late, had me and my sister late.

"Nothing papaji. How're you feeling?" I said and wiped my eyes.

"Oye mujhe kya hoga? I'm as healthy as a horse"
I chuckled through my tears at his statement. He's always been funny.

Dad already knows what the doctor told us but he's very good at hiding his emotions. He took care of me and my sister so well when my mom died.

He's never let me or my sister hide our emotions though. We were never told that crying is weak but yet my sister never lets anyone see her cry.

"Papa ji" I said and he nodded "Let's go home?"

He wasn't supposed to be discharged but the doctor allowed him to go home because they said they'll provide with a home nurse.

But recently, I had found out that we're really low on money.
We weren't the richest to begin with but our financial condition has dropped badly. And I have no idea how we're going to afford his treatment.

When we reached home, I set the bed perfectly and made him lie down.
He was tired and drowsy so he instantly slept.

He really like coffee from this cozy cafe and I thought i should get him. I walked to the place and ordered my dads favourite coffee.

When my order was ready, I picked it up and just as I turned, I accidentally bumped into someone and their coffee fell all over me and then.

"I'm so sorry, I- I wasn't paying attention" I said and picked up a tissue on the counter and out of habit, started cleaning their shirt.

"It's alright. You don't have to worry about it" The guy said. "It was my mistake"

"No i'm sorry, I shouldn't have been in such a hurry. I spilled coffee all over you" I said and looked at the guy.
