They had said that they had a lead. That someone claimed to have seen Hana, which Yuki had found out to be Harutos sister and main suspect in this case. Sure, he was relieved, but having her stay at the police station, not opening her mouth to speak was also not beneficial. And that was currently the case.
-
She sat on the brown, wooden chair, staring at the one-way glass. Hana could see her own reflection, which meant she was mainly looking at herself, fixing her hair to look presentable when the police officers entered.
A woman and a man. They spoke to her in English. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Ri. My name is Officer Rossi, this is officer Bianchi. You are aware why you are here?" She shook her head.
Acting dumb would probably the best way to get through this, Hana figured. "Then let me help you out.-" The female officer sat down on the chair at the other side of the table. They held eye contact. "The disappearance of Ran Takahashi." "The boy I went to high school with? He disappeared? Oh, I get it." A slap to her forehead.
"You believe I did something because of that thing with my brother! That's kind of rude, don't you think? I am living my own life. Haruto was dragging me down, I dropped him and am now living an independent life." To an outstanding person, this would have sounded believable.
Rossi sighed. "We know you called your brother two days ago. Stop playing innocent. Where is he?" However, Hana just shrugged. "I don't know. Track his phone, you are the police, not me. Listen, I am in Italy to enjoy my vacation, and certainly didn't fly all the way here to be interrogated by some wannabe cops that think I did something to Takahashi." She spoke. As if trying to bring her words across further, she slammed her hand onto the table.
But that also showed signs of her desperation. Rossi sighed. "Mrs. Ri, where were you last Thursday?" "At home." A knowing look from both of the officers. "No, you weren't. You and two other men were visiting Monza's practice. What happened after that? Where and when did you catch up with him?" In faked disbelief, Hana shook her head with her mouth agape.
"What a malicious allegation!" They remained calm. Anxiety started taking a hold on her. "Where is Takahashi?" Hana stopped. The faked panic disappeared and the side with authority took the lead. Her innocent smile dropped. "Let's stop this shit. I won't fucking talk to you. Ishikawa. It's all I am asking. Bring him here and I will tell you what you want to know. And if I were you, I would hurry. Because little Rannie did not look too well when I left."
A sadistic smile formed on her lips, stretching over her whole face. As relaxed as one could be, she leaned backwards against the chair.
-
Yuki only stared her down. The two officers stood outside the interrogation room, watching them carefully and ready to act if needed.
Hana never let her smile drop, no. Instead, it only grew bigger whenever she and the athlete made eye contact. "I was told pretty impressive things about you, Yuki. A successful career ahead of you, if only you hadn't tweaked your back recently." He shot around. How had she known?
A laugh "You're shocked by that? I know so much more about you, believe me. That's only the beginning." "Where is he? What did you do to him?" Her smile dropped. "Don't you know that? He allegedly called you instead of the police. So that was a lie too?" "No. No, it wasn't." "What did he tell you then, huh? See if it matches up." Yuki took a deep breath.
What game was she playing? "He said that he didn't want to die. Then there was a scream and the line cut off. Five words." Impressed, Hana raised her eyebrows. "And you knew it was me? Or that it had something to do with me? How did you know about Haruto? That slut talked to someone else except his lawyer?"
