I stared at the exam paper in front of me.
A 105.
"Great job, [ y/n ]! That's another exam you've aced. You just don't let up, don't you?" My teacher smiled when she handed me my paper and moved to the next person.
I sighed.
It wasn't surprising for me, in fact, I expected this. Not out of ego or anything, just because I always did well in school. Every assignment, every project, every exam, I was at the top.
I was "gifted", as they called me.
~~
"That's our girl!" My dad laughed as he ruffled my hair, looking at my exam paper. "She's gifted, no doubt about it." My mom chipped in, smiling while taking a sip of her coffee.
"Heck yeah she is, she's a genius!" He laughed again. "Anyways, me and your father will be out tonight so take care of yourself, okay? Call us if you need anything!"
"Okay. Bye mom." I went up to your room and threw my bag on the floor before collapsing onto my bed.
Hm, a genius, huh?
How boring.
~~
"Guess that's all my homework for now. What do I do now.?" I stretched in your chair.
I scrolled and scrolled through my Youtube recommendations page, looking for something to entertain you for at least a second. Before watching a compilation of talented people of all ages, practicing love for whatever they did. Talented chefs, talented instrument players, talented dancers, and music in all genres. Though they all did different things, something was for sure. They had passion for something, a passion I didn't have, but so desperately wanted again.
The most striking passion was the people who had passion for a sport, specifically volleyball. The way they played so passionately, with every spike, every receive, every block, every dig, they didn't give up. They played and played, and it was just breathtaking to watch.
Whenever they came up my heart raced, and their passion radiated off my computer screen, because soon enough I got off my computer and tried to play it myself.
~~
"Come on!" After many attempts, I just couldn't get the ball to go where you wanted it to go. Granted I didn't have an actual volleyball, and the ball I was using was just a random ball I found lying in my closet.
What happened to all that motivation I had?
I tried to watch more videos, but this time they were specifically about volleyball. Like I thought, I got motivated again, and went back to trying, only to get demotivated again.
So, this time instead of volleyball I tried to follow a tutorial to draw something. It only turned out even worse than I imagined.
Then, I tried out making a simple strawberry milk recipe. Surely it couldn't be too hard, right? wrong. I ended up spilling the drink everywhere while trying to blend it and had to clean it up so that I wouldn't lose an arm by the time my parents got home.
By the time I was done, I was too exhausted to do anything other than watch youtube videos until I went to bed.
Another day of doing nothing..
~~
Onto number 7.
I usually did homework during lunch since it was the only thing to keep me busy.
"Hey, smart kid!"
Are you kidding me?
I looked up to see the most irritating boys in my class. "Your smart right? That means you're going to help us with this assignment." He sat back in a chair and sat opposite of my desk.
