Kageyama was tying his shoes as he heard footsteps behind him.

His older sister, Miwa, yawned. "Morning and happy birthday to my little Tobio!" She bent down to ruffle his hair a bit.

"Thanks."

"Are you doing anything special today?"

"Hmm, no. Not really."

"Well that's no fun. Whatever, I'll treat you to something when you come back? Okay? And make sure to keep warm clothes on! See ya!" Miwa waved to him.

"See ya."

Kageyama never did anything really big for his birthday, he just thought of it as a day where he did a little extra than usual.

He remembered celebrating his birthdays with his grandpa. He would always make him the 'The Kageyama family's special pork curry', as his grandpa liked to call it. Topping it off with a soft boiled egg, Kageyama, his grandpa and his sister would all sit together and eat.

~~

"Hey Tobio, look."

The young boy turned his head to look at his grandpa.

"You already know how delicious our Kageyama family pork curry is. But the key to making it even yummier, is adding a soft boiled egg! The egg has protein and fiber, so it's also good for you."

"Wow! Eggs are amazing!" He gushed, completely amazed at everything his grandpa told him. Every quote, every piece of advice, everything.

"Miwa! Come down here, let's eat!" Kageyama would go on to eat dinner like that with them on all his birthdays.

With Miwa. Grandpa Kazuyo.

~~

Well, until he couldn't. Until he was gone, out of his reach-

No! Stop it!

Kageyama reprimanded himself. Reviewing the memories would only bring feelings of painful nostalgia. Grandpa Kazuyo was gone, and he couldn't do a thing about it.

He walked to the entrance of the school cautiously, preparing for Hinata to come out of nowhere and race him. As he did, he heard a voice behind him.

"Tobio-kun!!" He turned back to see you running towards him.

"Morning and happy birthday, blueberry boy." You poked his cheek with a smile.

"Morning, and thanks." He said with the same blank and blunt tone. "Still talking with that tone even on your birthday? Seriously, do you ever get hyped up for anything?"

"Hm? What tone?" Kageyama was completely clueless, though it wasn't surprising for him to be oblivious. "And I do get hyped up. Like when I get a service ace, or when I make a good set."

So he only gets really hyped up at volleyball? Well, I guess that's not very surprising coming from him.

"Anyways, i'll see you at lunch!" You ran into the building and went to your class.

~~

Tick.Tick.Tick.

Kageyama looked at the clock with a ravenous expression. Everyone did, it was almost lunch. His english class was going on for way too long, and any more english vocabulary and his brain would practically fry itself.

DING!DING!DING!

Kageyama shook awake, rubbing his eyes. "Where the hell am I..?" Kageyama had barely been awake in any of his classes, and the last one finished him off.
