CHAPTER 2

She jumped as she fell on the floor hiding.
"Why don't you come out. Hiding isn't the smartest move!" He yelled after a moment he walked behind behind the counter his boots clashing against the floor. He lifted you up his hand clenching around your collar. He was 6,8.
"You weren't followed especially by a baby. A baby in yellow." He said questioning her with force.
"no sir." She muttered out, her breath quick and her eyes widened in fear, the plague doctors expression softened as he placed her down.

"What's your name?" He now politely asked how could someone go from a violent and aggressive mood to a sweet calmer version

"Y/n!" She blurted out scared of the possibilities if she didn't answer. Suddenly his eyes softened and he wasn't as tense, he seemed to recognise her.

"My name is Nicolas. It's Dr Nicolas Arkham, but please call me doctor." He asked in a sweet tone now, Through the eye lenses of the mask you could see his bright yellow eyes glancing at you with curiosity.

"What brought you here." His tone was still strict but friendly, he tried to pretend like he hadn't been spying on her.

Y/n had to think for a second about how she ended up in another dimension, she remembered that painting when she saw a sleek furred black cat in the distance.

"Painting, I was hiding from a baby of some sorts I need to get back and check if he's alright." She went to go back but suddenly Nicolas stopped her putting a hand on her shoulder.

"A baby, was he wearing yellow?" He asked cautiously, his eyes not leaving her head, he could feel how tense y/n was now he thought he was being too extra.

"Yes, he had these devil like eyes that flickered on and off." Her voice was full of dread and fear.

"What does that mean." She wanted answers of why he was so cautious over some stupid baby.

"You can't go back, your only safe here"
He said pulling you back towards him. Her eyes widened she couldn't possibly stay with him right?

"Why, I need to see my family!" She protested trying to free herself from his grasp.

"Your more safer under the gyrosphere I don't want you going anywhere, I have to at least save one." He muttered the last part to himself but y/n easily heard what he said.

"What happend what do you mean save one." There was only silence over the question suddenly he grabbed her arm and led her forcefully to the library he grabbed a book named 'the prince'.

"Read this." He demanded quickly his voice was rough, she nodded and sat by the fire reading the book she was shocked in what she read in it, the baby was a trap to lure people. She put the book back, she had no other choice but to stay if she wanted to stay alive, she left the library and looked around for him she memorised a phew of the rooms she followed into an open room there was 4 doors one labelled 'nicolas room' another named 'theodoras room' the other third door being named 'isadoras room' but the one in the middle caught your attention, you remembered seeing these rooms when you were exploring all by yourself but the door sign had changed it said 'y/ns room' how could he change the labels so fast you peak into the door he had your bags, he was tidying and cleaning the place since it hadn't been entered for awhile, when he heard the door open he welcomed you in.

"Oh y/n I'm happy you came here on time." He spoke happily but thankfully you brought him news you were deciding to stay to hide from the princes wicked wrath.

"I'm deciding to stay." She said quickly Nicola finished making your bed he turned around to you. "Glad to hear." He said softly he seemed really happy you decided to stay, he must've been lonely all this time. The room's walls were painted a beige colour unlike all the yellow walls, you remembered playing a tape log that said how he decorated the laboratory more yellow, wasn't it obvious he liked yellow he could probably talk about yellow all day.

"I'm just finishing up, you can look around, start getting comfortable in your new room while I make dinner, I'll call you in when it's ready." She nodded.

She looked around the room she got up in the bed and looked out to see the dimensions sky so blue but it seemed as if they were on a floating island. She noticed a small photograph sitting on the shelf it was a film with what she guessed was Ambrose she felt upset, he must've been so alone the past days but she was also intrigued on what happened she wanted to ask him but then again she didn't want to push him on the subject, they must've been like really close I mean they shared the same house and all.

She jumped at the creak of the door it was Nicolas.

"Foods ready."
He spoke his tone sounding caring, she followed him past the kitchen and into the dining room she sat down with him, it looked like normal food. Nicolas made mashed potatoes and steak, she began eating it was quite awkward since only a dead silence hung in the air, once she finished she began reading in the library there were so many books, suddenly a cat jumped onto her lap it was the same cat she saw in the Painting it began purring, she slowly stroked the cats long fur, suddenly she felt herself drifting into a nice and calm sleep.

Suddenly she was awakened by him.
"Your should really get to bed." He spoke, she nodded. She walked off to bed she turned off the light but she noticed a figure in the dark, yellow glowing eyes watching her sleep it had a beak of like a crow. She tried not to think much of it. The next morning she awakened, she showered and put her clothes on ready for another day, suddenly while she was walking Nicolas hugged her from behind.

"You don't realise how lonely I've been." He said cheerfully he was overly happy to have her here.

"Could you help me in the lab?"
He asks, she thought for a second the. Agreed.

"Right heat up the blue and orange reagent."
She flipped the switch to heat it up.

"I've recently harvested this one." He said happily, he seemed so nice and caring something made her feel drawn to him.
