July 2, 1912
So, I'm not entirely sure how to begin today's journal entry. Today is the 2nd of July, Tsutakko's birthday. This means my birthday is in about 221 days, and then I turn 19. Isn't that just so "amazing"?
Today was.. interesting. I know I've only just become a hashira, but I've hated it since the first day. I don't hate it, but I don't want to be a hashira, not without Sabito. It just feels wrong.
Nevertheless, here I am, Japan's newest Water Hashira. And I've tried my best to socialize with the rest of the hashira. I don't talk to everyone, but I've spoken a bit with a nice man named Gyomei and a guy named Uzui. There's a kind girl named Kanae as well, but she always seems to be busy. I've found that I get along best with Rengoku since he and I are the same age. I don't bother socializing with anyone else. They're way older than me anyway.
Now, about today. I was on the infamous mission to slay demons, and it went a little bit like this:
"Go! Please, baby, go, crawl, or something, go, go!" a lady yelled nearby. Running closer to the voice, a woman can be seen in the grasp of a demon. There is a baby on the ground not too far from them, crying with no attempts to leave what is most likely her mother.
With a slash of a katana, the demon was easily beheaded and killed. The woman, however, was severely injured and needed help urgently.
The two victims were rushed to the butterfly mansion, where Kanae quickly rushed to aid the woman. The panicked child was left to be calmed by the only other person in the place.
Unsure of how to comfort the child, the little girl was given a embrace to which helped her calm down. The warm act was followed by sweet words of reassurance. With gentle back rubs, a slow sway, and a quiet hum, the child had fallen asleep.
"Tomioka-san." The doctor spoke as a door slowly opened. Walking into the hospital room, the attacked woman laid on her deathbed with life slowly escaping her eyes.
"Sir.." the woman muttered out with a large breath. "Take care of my daughter, please." she managed to speak out.
"Ma'am, I can't, I'm only eightteen.. I don't know how to care for a child." Were the words quickly returned.
"Please.. we have no other family, with you I know she will be safe.." With a soft and quiet breath, the words struggled to escape her lips. "She will be given to her father, he is not a good man, you, you are a good man. Please, have my daughter."
"Miss.."
"Please.." she whispered. "Take care of my little Ys-"
No words escaped the woman's lips, her body almost lifeless. Holding the woman's hand, a sigh was heard.
"I will keep your daughter safe, I promise."
The woman died right after, with a smile on her face, entrusting her child's life to an eighteen year old boy who had failed to save her life.
The lady died in front of my eyes. I was incapable of saving her. I don't know how to take care of a child, but this lady has entrusted me with her daughter's life. In return for failing to save her, I will take her daughter under my care and make sure to protect her with my life.
Alright. So, long story short, I have a child now. I'm 18 years old with a child. A little girl. It is now my duty to give her the best life possible, I will keep her safe and happy, and I will most definitely spoil her with love and care.
