For Tomorrow May Rain

Mrs. Jackie shot him a warning glare to stop talking. He chuckled and shut up, good thing for me. I turned my head to look at the rainy day out of the window. Rain droplets trickled down the window, making the plane of glass cold to the touch. A cozy atmosphere always followed rainy days, and this was no different. Always school felt different when it was rainy. The school felt dimmer and calmer when rain pounded on the glass windows, making the sound pleasant and relaxing for the ear to hear.

Hunter leaned back. Looking around and tapping his fingers on the desk in boredom, eyes darting from the clock to the board, then to the clock, and once again, the board. But his eyes just settled on the girls in front of him, wondering what they were doing. I took notice of this and looked ahead again, noticing the girls giggling and looking in a certain area of the class then grinning stupidly. It wasn't anything new. Eva and Charlotte think their names are, two of the girls that were famous in our school, but that doesn't matter.

The class drags on, Hunter grew restless and opened his notebook to doodle a bit, clutching the black pen in between his fingers, drawing various little stick figures with things like soccer balls or hockey sticks, some were just plain doing something like sledding together. He just drew random things he saw, but not very well.

A lot of time had passed, a few pages of my notebook were filled with words and equations, I was probably the only one to actually take some notes (but still far from all of them), and was maybe half ready for the test next week. 11:00 struck on the clock, and all of the students filed out, Mrs. Jackie huffed and sat down, reminding everyone about homework that probably no one will do.

Everyone went to their lockers to get lunch, but a few had Cafeteria money or had their backpacks with lunch already on their backs.

The cafeteria was always full, so lots of people opted to join clubs to keep their selves busy, but I didn't have practice this day, so most of the time the library is the best option in the winter.

Settling down on a seat and opening my binder and bag, looking over some science notes, the door to the small library opened. I assumed it was just a few other kids, as some just came to play on the computers, so I just kept my head down.

A taller presence made itself known, looking over me, and I tilted my head up, and there was Hunter.

"Don't you have friends to go to?" I said, brushing a strand of hair out of my eyes with a defeated look on my face.

"Don't you?" Hunter laughed, pulling up a chair and sitting on the opposite side of the table.

"Don't even." I huffed, closing my binder, looking at the boy.

"I'm new here. I've chosen you to be my first friend." He smirked, placing his cheek on his palm as I sighed. Hunter laughed and shoved some of his sandwich into his mouth. "So what classes do you have?" He asked, picking up his phone. He flashed his homescreen, which held his timetable. I took hold of it and squinted, looking at the small writing.

"We have art last period together." I nodded. It was already December, so I had already memorized my timetable.

"Sweet! We can sit together then." He exclaimed. I thought about Maddison, I always sit with her and I couldn't blow her off, but I haven't seen her today in the halls, so she's probably not here. I nodded and smiled slightly at his words.

"Yeah, maybe. If my friend isn't here." I spoke, toying with my many rings on . Hunter grabbed my hands and inspected the rings I had on. My face flushed as he inspected my hand. His hands were warm.

"Nice rings." Hunter said though a mouthful of food, but luckily nothing spilled.

"Thanks." My face was slowly cooling down after he let go of my hand.

Gosh, he was something.

This actually sucked so bad sorry. It's almost Christmas!! Happy holidays!
