??? P.O.V

Civil Protection Precinct 13

I finally managed to reach the station after being held up, damn rioters making me late. I shook my head, it didn't matter, I could probably break a few of their bones if I go out on patrol later. I went in, ignored some of the looks the other cops were giving me, and went to the locker room to change into the standard Civil Protection uniform. After suiting up, I turn to the mirror in the room, the blue lights of my mask starring back at me.

"In a year's time

"In a year's time... Maybe I'll have that promotion," I say to myself, my voice being heavily modulated due to the mask, trying to get my mind on track before going to work. It's always good to have a goal in mind before going into work.

"You're late, 3650," a voice breaks me out of my thoughts. I turn to the entrance of the locker room and notice a Civil Protection Officer with his arms crossed while leaning against the wall.

I walk towards him near the entrance. "Doesn't matter. I've got friends in high places. You know that." I then walk away from him.

"Aw, screw you, 36," he said distastefully. I was nearly out to the main hallway of the station when I heard him mutter, "Brown nose." I took a deep breath through my nose before moving on to the front desk to get my assignment, where the chief was located. He turned his attention to me, the red eyes of his mask starring at me.

"36. You're late," he put his hands on his hips, his voice not sounding all that pleased.

"I got held up. Sorry," I apologized. I wasn't lying, but I doubt he even cared.

He shook his head at my like a disappointed parent before continuing on. "No patrol for you today. Crab duty."

God damnit. "Ugh. Great. Where am I headed?"

"Go past the cells. Take a right then a left. You know the rest." He then turned his attention to the monitor next to him and proceeded to his next task.

I could only sigh mentally but nodded all the same. "Okay. I'm on it." I move away from the desk and move further into the precinct. It didn't help that everyone here had something to say about me. For instance, this schmuck near the door outside the precinct.

"You do know no one here respects you, right?" his voice was dull and it sounded like he put as little much enthusiasm into what he said.

"Is that so?" I questioned with a bit of heat in my words. I decided to fuck with him and just step closer to him and see what he does.

"First warning: Move away." He warned me but I didn't budge. This must have unnerved him because he reached for his stunstick. "I said 'move'!"

"Fine," was all that I said before moving on. After walking for a minute, I finally entered the holding cells. I didn't get to go far before an officer on cleaning duty, specifically cleaning a bloodstained cell with a mop, talked to me.
