My baby girl is lonely. My poor little Princess. Though I know we have only started our daddy-little girl relationship and that in many ways I am enough for her, I am also not a Little. I can play with my princess and watch Little movies and cartoons all day but I will never be exactly the kind of friend she needs.
I watch as my baby girl cautiously drifts away from me, appearing more and more nervous the farther she goes. I watch with an encouraging but watchful gaze as she makes her way to the swings and begins swinging. I see several people glance at her, studying her knee-high socks and bright pink skirt, before quickly looking away after seeing my fierce glare.
Hurt her and I will destroy you. Make her cry and I will destroy this entire world. No one harms my princess.
After everyone has stopped looking (my princess is too involved in kicking her feet to notice), I pull out my phone and call Jace, my right hand man and legal advisor. Jace is an old friend who works in the top of his field as a legal consultant and representative for one of the biggest law firms in the world. He is also a daddy and understands me better than anyone.
The phone rings once, then twice, before I hear him on the other end. "If you've killed someone you better have come to me first."
I chuckle. "I only work with the best."
"Damn right you do. Now seriously what's up? Did you actually kill someone? Because blood stains terribly and this is a new suit."
"I found my Little and I need a favor."
"Congratulations! It's about time, old-man. I know you've been looking for her for a long time. I'll pretend not to be offended that I'm just now hearing about her."
"You're bad at pretending."
"Good I want you to know how upset I am. Anyway, what's the favor?"
"I need a Little friend for Emmy. She needs someone to play with and be Little around aside from me and Marsha."
"Well, while I do looking stunning in baby girl pink, I don't think I'm quite what your Little is looking for" Jace quips. "But I'm assuming it's Rory you are thinking of?"
"Your Little needs a friend too" I point out. "What could be better than putting the two together?"
"Not giving them glitter. I just know those two are going to find a thousand ways to get into trouble" Jace sighs but there's obvious affection in his voice. He and his husband, Romeo, took in Aurora (Rory, as they lovingly call her) almost two years ago. They dote and spoil the girl senseless but she is a kind and deceptively smart Little. She can't be much older or younger than my Emmy.
"Hey, my Angel is perfect" I argue. It's true, aside from a few bratty moments, my baby girl has been a dream come true.
"Remember that when Rory corrupts her" Jace laughs.
We end the call with plans for Rory and Emmy to meet soon and I walk over to my princess, who is swinging higher and higher on her swing. The long hair of her pigtails sails in the breeze and her smile is so wide I start to laugh again.
"Having fun, my gorgeous girl?"
Emmy nods vigorously. "Yes, Daddy! Tanks you so much for bwinging me heres!"
"Your welcome, Princess, thank you for using your words to tell me that. Daddy has such a good baby."
She practically glows. In the back of my mind I wonder how often she was given any kind of praise or compliment before she found her way to me. I think of everything she has said about her father and picture the beastly man and her hideous almost-fiancé, the sneers and hatred on their faces as they look at my precious baby girl. I make a mental note to ask Emmy later the names of both of them so I can destroy their careers and empty their back accounts. Titles mean nothing in the face of horrible shame and embarrassment in front of elite society and that is what they shall receive and more for ever daring to treat my baby cruelly. I think of the way she danced, the way she flinched when she almost made a mistake.
It takes everything in me to smile down at my Little and give her the good news. "Great news, Princess. Since you have been such a good girl, Daddy arranged for you to have a friend. Another Little just like you. Her daddies are friends of Daddy and they are very, very nice. You get to meet her soon."
Emmy's eyes are as wide as the moon and she stops swinging. "A fwiend? How did Daddy finds me one?"
"When my princess is good, she gets anything her little heart could possibly desire. You make Daddy happy, Baby. Daddy wants to make you happy too. I will make all of your wishes come true one day, I promise."
For a moment I am startled as my baby girl's eyes well up with tears. Did I say something wrong? Is she hurt? Did the swing pinch her-
Suddenly I am knocked off my feet as my little one hurls herself at me and we both fall back onto the ground as she crawls up me, planting kisses along the way. "Tank you, Daddy, tank you!" And then she presses her lips against mine and the whole world ceases to spin.
