Daenyra woke up in Rhaenys' arms. They were in her and Corlys' chambers, how did she end up there, she didn't know. After her confession, she blacked out. Rhaenys was holding her close to her form while Corlys was resting on a nearby chair. His face showed grief, worry and anger even in his sleep. And Rhaenys, well.. her lips and eyes were swollen, her cheeks strained with dried tears.
Daenyra didn't move, even if she was awake, for she knew Rhaenys must have not slept a lot. She didn't want to wake the Princess, bring her back to her grief just yet. Instead she stared at the canopy of the bed in silence. Her eyes were cold and empty, just like her mind. She couldn't get the vision of her father's charred body off her mind, the atrocious smell still lingering in her nostrils.
'Why?' Was the question running in her mind. Why did her father have to die? Then the flash of memory, that Daenyra could only guess was Laenor's, came back before her eyes. Her mother's face. She had done it. She deprived her of her birth father, and now she had to take away the father that raised her and loved her like she was his own.
Eventually Rhaenys stirred, instantly holding Daenyra closer. Daenyra only laid her hands on Rhaenys arms without a word. After some time Rhaenys spoke.
"Darling girl.. How... how did you know?" her voice was shaking at the mere mention of last night's events. But she had to know. Daenyra knew Laenor was dying as it was happening, for the man had not died long before they rushed into the hall.
"I.." Her voice was hoarse from the lack of use and the screaming. "I had a dream" she only replied. Tears pricking the side of her eyes instantly. "I was burning, I could feel my skin melt and fall from my bones... As I tried to scream, my voice was strained, it was ripping my throat.. but it wasn't my voice.. not my body.. then I saw her." Daenyra explained with difficulty, her sore throat and sobs stopping her from speaking normally. Corlys was awake by then, and had listened intently at the girl's words. Rhaenys looked horrified and sat up, bringing the girl with her in her embrace as she ran her hand in her hair, in a soothing motion, while silently crying.
After a while, the remaining people in the castle gathered in the great Hall, breaking their fast all together. Rhaenyra and her children weren't there. They apparently left for Dragonstone at the first lights. Everyone was quiet. Eyeing Daenyra and the Velaryons. Daenyra couldn't eat anything. The smell of the burning flesh is still vivid in her mind, effectively making her nauseous to the mere thought of food. When the six children exited the hall to get some fresh air at Aemond's request, Alicent wanted to follow them, uneasy at the thought of her children skipping out of her sight. But Corlys stopped her.
"We all heard Daenyra's words yesterday." He started, his voice low. Everyone nodded, the memory flashing back in their minds. "There is more. And what I am about to say must not leave this room, and must not be brought up publicly." His face held no room for refusal. His sharp eyes observed every single one of them with a solemn stare, everyone eventually nodded in a silent promise.
"We think Daenyra might be a dreamer." Rhaenys pursued. "She saw what was going to happen, worse, she lived it as if it happened to her." Everyone blanched.
Daemon closed his hand on the hilt of Dark Sister. His daughter, a dreamer. A powerful gift that many would want to use for their own games. His eyes settled on Otto Hightower, if the Queen would never -from what Daenyra said to him about the Queen that is- use his daughter for her selfish greeds, Otto would. Of that he had no doubt. The man was a snake never stopping at anything to get what he wanted. He would have to keep a keen eye on the 'Hightower cunt'.
"We are trusting you with this information, for we all here are her family. But never should we try to use her and her dreams if ever she has others. Sadly, I do not doubt she will.. We must shield her from everyone else's prying eyes, greedy Lords that would use her." Corlys continued, looking at everyone at the table.
