[Camera rolls]
Interviewer: Are we live?
Camera Man: Yes. Head to the set now.
Interviewer: Good, this is gonna do numbers! "Adolescent boys trapped on an island go feral": that's already made headlines a few years back in the paper and people are such suckers for cheaply made follow-up documentaries.
Camera Man: Sir- we're recording.
Interviewer: Eh, just have the editor cut that bit out haha...
Camera Man: Right.
[The two walk towards the interviewing office: a plain box room with pale gray walls and a flickering light bulb. Of course, this room was chosen specifically for the ambiance. The Interviewer sits down at a table and crosses his arms as a boy about 16 enters the room. The Interviewer smiles.]
Interviewer: Hey kiddo, do you mind introducing yourself?
[The kid sits down across from the man, looking downwards.]
Jack: Yeah, uh, I'm Jack Merridew.
[Jack stares at the camera.]
Jack: Am I going to be on the telly or what?
Interviewer: Of course kid! After this, you'll be a star on television! Everyone will know who you are.
[Jack grinned, despite how nervous he felt.]
Jack: I like the sound of that. What is this interview about exactly?
Interviewer: What? Your mother didn't tell you? Kid, this is going to be about your time being trapped on the island. I know that this must've been very traumatic for you, but if you can answer a few questions that would be much appreciated and maybe even a stress reliever.
[Jack's smile fell at the Interviewer's words.]
Jack: Being on that island was the worst time of my life. What much more can I say? I would trade anything if it meant never having to experience that again.
[Jack shuddered.]
Jack: I think I'm finished here.
[Jack then got up and left. The interviewer sighed heavily.]
Interviewer: Poor kid.
Camera Man: Shall I send the next one in?
Interviewer: Yes.
[The door opened again and a blonde boy came inside, looking around as if dazed.]
Ralph: Hello.
[Ralph shook the Interviewer's hand before taking a seat.]
Interviewer: Good evening, son. I'd like to ask a-
Ralph: -few questions about my stay on the island? Yeah, I know. I... I'll answer to the best of my ability.
[The interviewer smiled with a nod. Finally, a kid who'll answer some questions.]
Ralph: It all started with a plane crash. I was on a flight to America to stay with a couple of relatives while my father was away in the Navy.
[Camera Switch]
Sam: The plane landed with a big BOOM that left a scar about 1 mile long across the beach.
Eric: It was a terrifying moment of uncertainty. I at first thought that I had died immediately from the impact.
[Camera Switch]
Henry: The moment we all gathered ourselves I felt safe at first, but that blanket of security wouldn't last long. We began to fear things on the island and began to fear ourselves.
