AMARA would often sneak into her father's study as if it were her personal hideaway. Ever since she was a child, she always observed him whenever he did his work. It fascinated her how passionate and devoted he was to Science, hoping to be like him when she grew up. Maybe it was because she only had him around, considering her mother died while giving birth to her. And when he did remarry, the girl tried her best to adjust to the change but at least knew she had someone to rely on.

She remembered when Peter Parker came over to her house while their fathers worked on the next project. They weren't permitted to watch them work as they were too young to understand anything. So they spent hours pretending that they were Oscorp scientists uncovering a cure, imagining how they would be the perfect team. Having their own office in her room and made formulas using whatever they could find in the kitchen but that didn't last long. They used old lab coats they could find and joked that they would be the duo to win a Nobel Prize.

Peter would always say that they would stay together forever and Amara wholeheartedly believed that. Perhaps she was too naive to think he would keep his promise, after all, she once told him that she loved him. Two ignorant kids that would say anything at the moment, even if she wasn't lying. One of the things they would do was go to the attic and glance at the sunset cascading over New York City. Sometimes they laid against the roof although her father warned them on several occasions that it was dangerous.

"I asked my dad for guitar lessons... but he wants me to go to science camp." The young Connors voiced her thoughts, staring at the distant sunset. Summer was coming up in a few weeks and thought it would be cool to learn an instrument. Of course, she still wanted to go to science camp but only if Peter joined. Not noticing him turning his head to gaze upon her, infatuated with his best friend. Their shoulders barely grazed, an innocent moment between them.

"What if... I could go with you?" Peter questioned her, pondering how she'd react. He knew that Dr. Connors was volunteering to teach there, all he had to do was try to convince his parents. A small smile graced her lips, almost like he read her mind considering they were inseparable. Her eyes flickered towards his before she turned away to hide her reddening cheeks. The boy glanced away nervously considering he realized he had been staring at her for some time. Peter hummed as he nudged her shoulder slightly, "If my parents let me that is."

"You would do that? For me?" Amara asked him in a low voice, intentionally looking at the skyscrapers or listening to the sirens from the distance. Part of her thought he was being nice as she raised her legs to a fetal position while a calm breeze flowed through.

"Of course, anything for my best friend...." Parker nodded his head as he stood up from the roof and outstretched his hand for her. She gingerly took it before Peter heard his mother shouting at him to be careful. The girl couldn't help but laugh at Peter's embarrassment as they went inside, hoping to convince the Parkers. Dr. Connors noted how his daughter reacted around the boy and even offered to take Peter under his wing.

But everything changed the following month after summer camp when Peter's parents disappeared and were later presumed dead. Amara didn't understand much back then but how it affected their friendship. He didn't speak much for weeks and would ignore her whenever she tried to talk to him. Eventually, she gave up and understood that he didn't want to be comforted so they slowly grew apart. Sure they participated in Science awards together but at most they shared glances as the years passed.

The Parkers and Connors didn't talk much since Peter was taken in by his Aunt and Uncle. Therefore, Amara occupied herself in learning guitar once her father noticed how lonely she's gotten. Dr. Connors did the best he could to help her find a hobby in the meantime before focusing on her science career. And when she found out that her stepmother was expecting, the girl was excited to be a big sister. Doing the best she could to adjust, her father always reminded her that no one could replace her.

Entering middle school and while she made some new friends, Peter unexpectedly asked to reconcile. Although Amara was hesitant to make amends with him, she did miss her best friend. While the young Connors were progressing in playing guitar, Parker was fascinated with photography. The boy would even show her photos he took but purposely hid the ones he took of her.  After that day, he swore never to harm Amara again. And it wasn't until later did he realized that everything revolved around her.

Unknowingly... Amara became the subject of Peter Parker's life.
