"This is your room" Taylor said motioning for Emma to open the door.

the little girl didn't though. she just looked lost, scared and confused as she dared to look into Taylors deep blue eyes. Taylor didn't know whether the little girl hesitated because she didn't understand what Taylor had said or if it was because she was scared.

"Could you open the door for me honey? Then we can put your stuff down and I can show you the rest of the apartment." Taylor tried explaining what she wanted Emma to do.

Finally Emma lifted her hand and carefully opened the white door. On the other side awaited her a room three times the size than all of her previous rooms. Even the one at her biological parent's house. Though the years had passed since she lived with them she still remembered it vividly. She remembered how the floors were covered in carpet and how she had helped her mom and dad move boxes all around the house. Some memories had already begun to fade but Emma was sure that she would remember that room and that house for the rest of her days.

The floors were covered by a light grey rug that matched the long curtains blowing in the light breeze from the slightly opened window. Nearly in the middle of the room a double sized bed was placed against the wall furthest from the door. Emma couldn't believe her eyes. She looked up at Taylor to be sure she had opened the door to the right room. Even though the entire room was in either white or grey nuances Emma still loved it. Emma who loved color and praised rainbows and glitter was on the verge of tears. But it was when Taylor nodded with a proud smile that Emmas first tear in that apartment fell. She took a couple steps in looking wide-eyed at every single detail to make sure she would memorize it. One thing Emma had learned from her five years in foster care was to enjoy happiness while it lasted. Because nothing is permanent. Time changes things, both good and bad. Everything must come to an end. Everything in Emmas life up until this moment had come to an end. So the odds of this lasting seemed slim in the little girls eyes.

"I know it's a bit empty, but I figured wed go shopping to get you some things you like. Then the room will really feel like your own." Taylor smiled at the little girl happy that she was enjoying her new room. This was the first time since Emma came here that Taylor had seen a glimpse of true happiness in the green eyes she already adored so much.

"I like it. Thank you" Emma spoke with a small smiled curved on her soft lips. The thought of speaking to Taylor was petrifying. She was scared to say the wrong thing, coming across as rude or ungrateful. She didn't want to be mean or hurtful towards Taylor because she had been nothing but kind and welcoming to Emma. But Emma knew that not everything was as it seemed and when you've been fooled by your own parents it's hard to believe in kindness.

Taylor carefully put down the bag with Emma's stuff in it on the floor and then continued to show her the rest of the apartment. She showed Emma's bathroom and an extra guest room. Then the turn came to Taylors room. Taylor stopped at another white door. Emma was so afraid that she after the tour wouldn't be able to find the right room. The thought of entering the wrong room terrifying as she was not used to so many rooms looking so alike.

"This is my room. You can always come and get me. Whenever. Even if it is in the middle of the night or in the early morning. It doesn't matter you just come and get me and I will help you. Okay?"
