"Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen," Rowena finished counting, making sure she had all nineteen princesses in the same room. "Excellent. I'll see you all in the morning. No excuses. Goodnight."
She began walking to the door but stopped. "I said, goodnight."
"Goodnight, m'lady," nineteen voices mumbled back.
Rowena, satisfied, stepped out, not bothering to look at Desmond, who was guarding the door. "I want to know where they go, to whom they speak and when they sneeze."
"Of course, Your Grace," Desmond replied. "My only reward is your happiness, my lady."
"Correct, Desmond," Rowena replied nonchalantly, walking away.
Inside, the girls waited until things were silent.
"Is she gone?" Fallon whispered. "I thought I heard voices."
"It seems clear now," Fluttershy said. "Even the animals are asleep and quiet."
"Let's go, then," Genevieve said.
Twilight hung back, however. "Are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I'll be back before she realizes I'm gone," Applejack promised, already having changed into the clothes she'd arrived in the movie in. "Go have fun. I need to figure this out."
"Good luck, then," Twilight gave a reassuring squeeze before joining the group going through the portal.
Applejack waited until things were quiet, then cautiously opened up the doors leading to the balcony, noticing Derek already hiding in the garden, ready for the two of them to figure this out. Using bedsheets, she slid down into the grass.
"A princess wearing boots?" Derek chuckled a little.
Applejack blew on a stray piece of hair. "It's a long story. I'll try to explain it while we're looking."
She figured it would be safe to tell Derek about the movie thing.
However, people like Rowena?
Still very much off-limits.
"A whole night to forget Rowena," Genevieve said as they entered the pavilion. "And her rules."
She turned to her sisters and the Equestria Girls. "What should we dance to first?"
"Ooh, let's do ballet!" Pinkie jumped up and down. "And get new dresses while we're at it?"
"You said new dresses, I'm down," Rarity smiled.
Genevieve turned to the trees. "I wish we were dressed like ballerinas."
Instantly, gold shimmers enveloped the eighteen, transforming their clothes.
"Ooh, I love it!" Rarity gushed, feeling the fabric of the skirt.
"We wish we had ballet music," Ashlyn announced, and instantly, the painted instruments sprang to life again, allowing them to begin dancing. Like every other time, the twelve sisters proved superior (and admittedly concerned Twilight with the fact that they could fly into choreographed routines without missing a beat).
The six of them decided to have a little fun themselves.
Sunset slid out a fan. "Who am I?"
Starlight giggled a little. "The Duchess of Doom."
"You mean, the Duchess of Don't." Edeline swooped in next to them. "Don't do this, don't do that. Don't. Don't! Don't!"
They all burst into laughter before continuing to dance.
