Chapter 2. Codenames

"Now class, who among you is ready to share?" Midnight asked.

The sparkly boy went up to the desk with his whiteboard and said "Hold your breath. The shining hero; my name is 'I can not stop twinkling!' Monami, you can't deny my sparkle."

"Get rid of the 'I' and shorten 'can not' to 'can't'." Midnight said, changing the writing on the board.

"It's stunning mademoiselle."

"Oki doki! Let me go next!" The pink girl said, jumping to the front, her board saying 'Alien Queen'. "My code name; alien Queen!"

"Like the horrible monster with the acidic blood? I don't think so!"

The pink girl walked back down the rows of desks. "Dang it."

"Ribbit. I think I've got one, would it be ok if I go next?" A girl with long green hair asked.

"Come on up!" Midnight welcomed.

"I've had this name in mind since grade school." The green haired girl said, "Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."

"That's delightful! It makes you sound approachable, what a great example of a name everyone will love!" With that everyone started chanting 'Froppy!', you quietly joining in near the end.

Someone slams their board onto the desk. "I've got mine too! The sturdy hero: My name is Red Riot!"

"Red Riot? Interesting, you're paying homage to the chivalrous hero: Crimson Riot, yes?"

"That's right, yes. He may be kinda old school, but some day I wanna be just like he was! Crimson is my idol."

"If you're bearing the name of someone you admire, you have more to live up to."

"I accept the challenge!"

It was then you managed to get a name, writing it down on your board.

The girl with headphone jacks for earlobes ran up to the front. "The hearing hero: I'm Earphone Jack!"

The next few started to go by. "The tentacle hero: Tentacole", "taping hero: Cellophane", "martial arts hero: tailman", "Pinky", "Stun Gun hero: chargebolt", "stealth hero: invisible girl", "everything hero: creati", "shoto", "Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi", "tendril hero: Kurai tsuru", "petting hero: Anima", "king explosion murder" that got shut down, "Uravity"

That left four.

Bakugo, Midoria, Iida and you.

You had yours but felt nervous to show it, so you're waiting for last.

"You're using your real name too?" Midnight said when Iida stood up at the front.

"Well, ok, Midoria, are you ready?"

"Oh, yeah." The green haired boy stood up, board in hand.

He put his board down to an immediate gasp.

"You sure about that?" Chargebolt asked (you don't know many names yet, so for now, hero names it is.)

"Yeah man, that could be your name forever." Red Riot added.

"Right. I used to hate it. But then something changed. I guess, someone taught me it could have a different meaning. And that had a huge impact on how I felt. So now I really like it. Deku. That has to be my code name."

You were quite confused by this. His quirk had nothing to do with puppets.

"Ok, that leaves Bakugo and [L/N]. [L/N], want to have a go?"

"Ok." You say, determination in your voice.

You place down your card, which reads 'Random hero: Joker.'

Eventually Bakugo came up with "Lord Explosion Murder." Which isn't any better than 'king explosion murder.'

"Now that everyone has decided on hero names, we can start talking about your upcoming internships. They'll last for one week, as for who you'll be working with, those who were on the board, will choose from among your offers, everyone else will have a different list." Holding up a sheet of paper from a pile, your teacher continued, "You'll have a lot to think about. There are around 40 agencies across the country who've agreed to take on interns from your class. Each agency has a different specialty its hero's focus on, keep that in mind." Aizawa finished.

"Imagine that you were Thirteen. You'd want to choose a place that focuses on rescuing people, not fighting villains. Understand?" Midnight added.

"Think carefully before you decide."

Unlike everyone else, you weren't handed a list of agencies, Aizawa just telling you to speak to him after class.

"[L/N], since you joined after the sports festival, the school decided to send a recording of your examination to some hero agencies, some of which have gotten back, but it was a bit late, getting to us during the Name Choosing part of the lesson. Get back to me about your choice before the weekend." He said before leaving, dropping a 2 page list of agencies on your desk.
