My hands kept shaking, but eventually, the trembling began to stop. As I gained control over my feelings, I took a deep breath and steadied myself. Feeling more composed, I left the library, with Victoria following me.

People were staring at me strangely, and I wondered why.

"They can't see me; only other empaths can," Victoria explained.

"How did you know I was wondering why everyone was looking at me like I was crazy?" I asked.

"I can read your mind!" Victoria replied.

"Will I be able to do that?" I asked.

"It depends; every empath is different," Victoria explained.

I walked through the busy school hallways, and Victoria continued to follow me. As we moved, she sensed my discomfort and put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It takes time to filter out the noise and understand your thoughts versus theirs. You'll learn to control it."

The hall seemed long, and I could sense the emotions of people around me. A couple was arguing, a student was nervous about a presentation, and a group of friends was laughing. Each emotion was clear in my mind.

I wondered how this new ability would change my life. Would I become a silent observer, knowing the private thoughts of those around me? The weight of this realization hit me as we reached the exit and stepped into the fresh air.

Victoria and I kept walking, passing under an old oak tree. A sudden feeling of calm washed over me, as if the tree was sharing secrets of strength. "Nature has its own language," Victoria said. "Embrace it, and you'll find peace even in chaos."

As we walked through the courtyard, I noticed a group of students. One girl seemed full of energy, while another looked sad. I felt connected to their emotions, silently understanding without words.

"Being an empath is both a gift and a challenge," Victoria said softly. "But remember, you can make a difference. Your understanding can bring comfort to those who need it."

With those words the best thought came to my mind, I could help people using my powers!

"No way! You can't do that!" Victoria told me now with an angry tone.

"But why can't I help people?" I asked,getting frustrated.

"It would put you in danger! So no!" Victoria told me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
