Sitting across from Proctor, my lawyer, in my office. I braced myself for the onslaught of Ms. Ayanna Jacobs's allegations, each one a potential landmine in both my personal and professional life.

"Aubrey, we need to dissect each accusation meticulously. It's crucial for our defense," Proctor stated. His demeanor is all business.

I nodded, but he could tell I was elsewhere.

"Aubrey, are you with me?" Proctor's voice snapped me back to reality.

"Yes, I'm here," I said, trying to focus.

"Let's go through these one by one," Proctor suggested. "Ok first, she's accusing you of sexual assault, Aubrey. Says she has proof."Proctor leaned forward, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made me squirm.

" Fuck no! That's not fucking true! I... I... I mean, yes, we had sex, a lot but she liked it rough. She likes being smacked around. So, I just went with it." Proctor nodded, jotting down notes. "We need to be prepared to prove that it was consensual. Do you have any messages or anything that could help?"

I thought for a moment. "I'll check. There might be something."

"She's claiming to have text messages from you, Aubrey. Messages where you're being inappropriate, asking for... inappropriate pictures. Is there any truth to that?"

I felt a lump form in my throat, the reality of the situation hitting me hard. "Yes, there were texts," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "But it wasn't just me initiating them. She sent messages and pictures willingly. She never objected, never said no."

Proctor exhaled deeply, scribbling down notes. "You need to understand, Aubrey, in the context of your position, these messages can be interpreted in a very damaging way."

I nodded, the gravity of the situation settling in. "I know, and I regret it. But it was never a one-sided conversation. It was a mutual exchange."

He continued relentlessly. "Ms. Jacobs claims you've been stalking her, monitoring her movements outside of work."

I hesitated, trying to recall any instance that could be misconstrued. "I might have asked about her whereabouts at times, but stalking? That's a complete fabrication."

"There are allegations of inappropriate behavior at work, including comments and gestures."

Looking away. "I may have made some offhand comments, but nothing intended to be inappropriate at work. It's all been taken out of context."
