As I entered the place, the heavy destruction does not surprise me. This is as to be expected in an apocalypse. I venture unto the abandoned streets of this city, entering shops to see if I find anything useful.
Nothing.
I ventured more and more, it's silent, but only hearing the soft gentle breeze of the air as it tugs on my hood. I will not let me guard down, for there may be an infected preying on me despite the deserted environment, waiting for the next moment to strike, hidden away. Placing my hand near my tactical knife.
I seek and seek for supplies, I shall not return unto my team's base with nothing in hand. I see a Botany Store within my sight. I decide to quickly enter in search for seeds such as vegetables or fruits to plant within our base.
As I search within more shops, I finally hit the jackpot. Bags full of supplies, and tons of food that are yet untouched.
But it makes me wonder...
How could there be fresh food in such apocalypse? What am I saying? There's barely anyone or anything walking around in these parts.
Even so, It feels slightly off to me. But who cares, there isn't any damage in any of these supplies. It's safe to assume that they're secured and there's nothing to worry about. Besides, I don't want to return empty handed.
I grabbed at least 2 bags of supplies and leave the place, though as I plan to return to my base when suddenly.. I see a silhouette of a person. They don't seem to have any mutations, in fact they look like a perfectly healthy survivor. Though it's difficult to see considering they're in a dark area away from me. Though I am confident that they are not infected, they don't seem infected. I approach the person carefully, I'd like to recruit them in our group.
It seems that they have their backs turned away from me. I hesitated, despite that, I try to communicate to the person in front of me in a faint tone. "Um.. Greetings.." I'm trying to think a better response. "Are you... a lone survivor as well, looking for a safe place to stay..? I've got just the place--If you're not bitten or scratched of course--aha.." I nervously chuckled to lighten up the atmosphere for the other individual. Though the figure remained still. Perhaps it did not hear what I've said due to my faint -monotonic voice. I came closer and tapped them on the shoulder "You probably didn't hear what I said earlier but..." Before I finished speaking, the figured turned their head. I gulped in fear, I made a huge mistake. This isn't a survivor but an infected. It's vibrant green eye staring at me while her left is like a void of abyssal liquid, dripping down it's face. I quickly backed away.
Basing on it's features, this is most likely a Type 3 infected. It is classified as a safe type, despite it being classified as 'safe', I don't trust it. I feel my cold sweat dripping off my face and backed away quickly. Running off with the supplies without looking back at the infected. I knew there's at least an infected crawling around in these parts, they're basically everywhere! My only thought in mind is running away and surviving, I'm not letting it kill me!
After a while I stopped and realized, I should've been dead the moment I touched the infected. They're quick and aggressive, even the low types... even if they had a bit of their consciousness left so why did it not chase after me or quickly tackle me the moment my hand landed on it's shoulder. This is weird, the scientists and doctors didn't say anything about this... did they leave this information out on purpose or did they just not know?
I continue walking, steering away from the infected the best as I could, whilst thinking of the infected while doing so. Until I have reached my base without a scratch.
