     EVERYONE KNEW that Cole Walter couldn't find himself settling down after his breakup with River Calflin and everyone blamed the girl for it.

What the hell could she have done to completely change how Cole felt about her, their relationship, and settling down?

She didn't do anything.

That was the problem.

She'd done nothing but adore him, his family, and their relationship and been there for him before and after the accident.

It was the accident that ruined their relationship.

But before that, Cole and River were thicker than thieves.

"Remember, Summer is home, your father and I are going out for dinner, Ryder and Sawyer are out riding, and Sierra is staying the night at Hannah's." Elaina, River's mother said. "No parties, no drinking, no drugs, and please, no Cole."

River smiled, nodding as her mother slipped in her shoes. "Got it. No drinking, no drugs, no Cole."

At this point, River and Cole had been dating for a year. Even though Elaina and Asher, River's father, loved the Walter's, they didn't quite know what their own children would do without the company of an adult around.

But, they did trust River and their eldest, Summer had been living in a tiny home in the backyard of their house, so, there was really no worry for them.

"Love you lots, Ri." Elaina smiled, kissing River's forehead. "Call if you need anything, but remember, Summer is right there. So try her first."

River nodded and shut her bedroom door behind her mother and soon enough, the front door slammed shut and the truck was pulling out of the yard and down the road.

"Is she gone?"

River turned from the window with a smile dancing on her face. "Yeah, she's gone." River replied with a sigh of relief.

She turned back towards Cole, who was waiting for her on the bed.

"Finally," Cole breathed, pulling her in for a passionate kiss.
