Back at Zomdomia, the whole city was in shock after hearing that one of the Princes was badly injured on a mission. The best healing sorcerers from Zomdomia and other Kingdoms were invited to help cure the poisoned prince.
Leo also tried his best to cure Mark but the results were the same. The more they try to heal him, the more the poison acts up causing Mark excruciating pain.
“It’s of no use, there’s nothing we can do about it…” Leo sighed as he walked to the door.
“We can’t just give up even if the chances of survival is low!.” Zompire said as he appears in front of his dad.
“Were you able to get the antidote from Mecha?”
Zompire was silent clenching his fists.
“I see” Leo said and vanished.
“Zom... bro... *coughs*” Zompire quickly walked to Mark and holds his hand.
“Why... the sad face?” Mark struggles.
“If you make that sad face before I die, I... might not be able to rest in peace” Mark says and laughs which made his bleeding worse.
“Enough of that or I’ll have to kill you myself!”
“don’t worry, I’ll make it through this the same way I made it through other injuries” Mark adds as he places his hand on Zompire’s head.
They both began to laugh.
“Hey Zompire” Mark says with a serious face which made the smile on Zompire's face disappear.
“Make sure you become an awesome ruler okay? I'll… be watching you…” he smiles then his hand which was on Zompire's head fell to the floor.
“Huh?”
Zompire was in shock, he tapped Mark trying to wake him up asking the others in the room if he just fell asleep.
Everyone shook their head and closed their eyes then suddenly, the sky got dark and there was a heavy wind blowing in the atmosphere, dragons began to roar, thunder rumbled, the whole kingdom was in a state of panic and everyone began to find shelter but in an instant, it all stopped.
“It seems Mark was supposed to be the next ruler” an old man said as he walked into the room.
“Yeah” Zompire says as he stands covering Mark's corpse with a cloth.
“I found out a long time ago” Zompire said with a sad expression on his face.
“Y-You knew?” the old man said in shock.
“I had done some research on the past rulers of Zomdomia and I got to find out that they all had one thing in common” Zompire said looking out the window.
“And what would that be young lord?” the old man asked in curiosity.
“Well, if you observe Mark’s body, you’ll find out he has a weird birthmark on the top right side of his back which looks exactly like the one on dad’s right hand” Zompire illustrates.
The old man signalled to the guards to check Mark’s corpse. The moment they had seen the mark, it began to slowly fade away.
“Why’s the mark...?” Zompire was cut off by a familiar voice.
“It’s going to the next worthy successor!” Leo said as he walked into the room.
“Worthy successor? I don't...”
“Wait, you knew about this, and you never placed extra security on him!?” Zompire cut off the old man with a furious look on his face.
“Why would I? That would have made him weaker than he already...”
“Weaker!? Weaker you say, Mark was never weak!” Zompire yelled at Leo with rage written all over his face.
“Mark was never fit to be the next ruler of Zomdomia!” Leo yelled back making his voice echo throughout the room
“He was weak, naive and always focused himself on books than training! He-”
before he could complete his sentence, Zompire caught him off guard with a punch right to the face.
“Shut up! Mark was none of those things!” Zompire said with tears in his eyes “If that’s what you think of your own son, then you aren’t fit to be called a father or a ruler!” he adds
“That was a good punch” Leo laughed as he appeared behind Zompire
“Burn that thing immediately and tell the entire kingdom that my son here accomplished his mission and will be the next heir to the throne” he adds as he walks out of the room leaving Zompire in silence
“maybe I should go thank that fool for disposing the brat for me” he adds as he vanished.
