Saving Her

Chapter 21

Letting Ben go alone with Bill to talk to Bill's source the next day, while Mick and Lexa arrive at the Stone residence. Upon their arrival, Autumn is in the kitchen eating her breakfast while Grace and Mick are in the living room with Lexa.

"Yeah, Ben went to speak to a meteorologist regarding 828." Mick states to Grace gently.

"Why's that?" Grace asks.

"The storm we went through came out of nowhere. The captain and meteorologist have similar theories along with the co-pilot."

"Ben believes them?"

"Sort of, we are looking for answers right now." Mick explains, "He's not in any danger just asking and listening is all he's doing."

"Good." Grace sighs in relief, "Do you mind watching Cal? I have a catering job to do today."

"Sure, where is he?"

"Sleeping in today. I will check to see if he's awake."

"Okay. Sounds good." Mick smiles before allowing Grace to go upstairs.

Nervous as five minutes go by, Mick heads upstairs to find Grace on Cal's bed crying. Before she could ask, Mick looked from Cal's open window to his schoolbooks dumped out on the ground.

"He ran away." Grace sobs as Lexa arrives and goes to touch Cal's drawing book but gets stopped by Grace, "Don't touch anything, please?" Grace snaps before apologizing.

"Lexa and I have a good idea where he went. To answer the calling." Mick reveals, "We will leave now but Lexa and I need to look through his drawings to get a better location."

"Okay." Grace agrees weakly before looking over Lexa's shoulder as the tiny girl picks up Cal's sketchbook. As Mick closes the door, Mick then joins Grace on the bed.

Showing the pieces of the map silently, Lexa allows Mick to take photos of each and every one of the drawings to get an idea of where Cal went.

"Tannersville." Mick whispers, "There are cabins there for hunting and such."

"It's winter. Why would he go there?" Grace whispers back.

"Lexa and I will find out. I will reach out to Jared and Ben, and dad. You get in touch with Olive. Ask her to guide us to the cabin Cal is at or heading to."

"Okay. Just bring him home safe."

"I will do my greatest effort to do so." Mick promises before passing Grace the book back, "Do not allow Autumn near this or Cal will be in danger."

"Take it with you, please, Mick?" Grace begs as Mick hesitantly accepts the book back, "I will meet you at the schools with a bag of Cal's things just in case."

"Okay, Lexa and I will go home to pack and gather gear."

"Good. See you soon." Grace whispers pulling Mick into a hug, "See you soon, Lexa." Grace and Lexa hug each other softly, before she and Mick head downstairs and out the door.

Calling Ben during the drive, Mick informs him that Cal ran away and is following a calling that he, Mick and Lexa shared. Telling him in detail that she and Lexa will be heading off after him, Ben sighs in relief. Telling Mick about dark lightning and how is forms, well according to Roger Mencin's findings, Mick asks Ben who else knows.

"Not many know about it. Someone bought his silence." Ben reveals.

"Ah, the tricky spot." Mick agrees, "We are just pulling up to the apartment to pack and get our camping gear. I'll call you when we are on the road again."
