Three days have passed since their departure. No, I haven't attended classes. Even so, I do not like it there. They constantly bully me, and I always wind up in trouble when I stand up for myself.
They could go fuck themselves and it wouldn't matter to me. I'll just hang out and get stoned. I enjoy getting stoned because it allows me to escape reality.
"Ugh," I mutter. The thing I despise about drinking or using drugs is how I feel afterwards. 'Bam Bam'
There's a knock on the door. I immediately become terrified. My mother and Billy have returned, I reasoned. Bam Bam, there it is again. I hurry up, straighten my clothes, and dash to the door, which I swiftly open.
I wince a little, thinking I'm going to get smacked, but nothing. I sighed deeply to realise that Mr. Green was the only one. He asks, "Oh hey kiddo, is your mum home?" I said, "No, sir; she's not at home at this time."
He'll know that I've been home alone if I tell him that she was gone, which is what I should have done all along.
I was also always told by my mother not to tell people when she was gone. I will face consequences if I answer and they contact her or the police. The last time I told someone that I was only permitted to drink water and not eat for a week, I still recall it. She is very evil, damn her.
"When will she be back?" Why is he curious? "She has a late shift at work and will not be arriving until late." Is there anything I can do for you? "No, just tell her I need to talk to her," I respond with a nod.
"Anyway I gotta go talk to you later." He starts but then turns around. "Can you tell me what happened to your face? "That's a nasty bruise," he says, concerned.
He notices the bruises? Talia, think of something quick. "Oh, I was running around with some friends and ended up falling on the pavement," I grinned uncomfortably. "Oh, I'll let you rest, but please put some ice on it." Okay?" "Yes sir, that will do," i said as he exited, and I shut the door.
That was the biggest deception I'd ever told. I can't believe he thought I had buddies. That is completely ridiculous. He would have seen how damaged my face is if I hadn't worn my mom's make-up on. Nonetheless, Billy most likely did not pay the rent again because Mr.Green would not want to see his mother otherwise.
I shake my head to clear my mind. "How about we get some food?" I enter the kitchen. And, of course, there is nothing in here that can be used to prepare a meal, not even a sandwich.
I'll have to leave or I'll go hungry.I'm broke, so how could I afford anything? I suppose I'll have to figure it out on the way. I closed the door after putting on my jacket and slippers.
I don't bother locking it because there's nothing there worth taking.
Time Skip
I approach the convenience shop. I enter after observing a long queue of people. I put on my hoodie and head to the back of the store. I open the fridge door, take a juice, and put it in my pocket, making sure no one is looking.
I've never stolen anything before. It feels wrong. I grab a few chips and other tiny munchies. My pocket is quite deep, so I could fit a few items inside without them being obvious.
I try to think of some way to escape. "Hey, I just saw you. "Put those things back!" shouted a man. Perhaps it's the owner. I run after throwing a can at him. Fortunately, that bought me some time.
