Hi all,

I know I'm currently working on Stranded in Petalburg, but I honestly felt a little burnt out from that story, so I decided to take a break and make a one-shot for christmas considering I'm at about the halfway point for that story. All reviews are welcome and accepted.

I tried to make this short, sweet, and a little bit humorous, and I hope it makes you laugh.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

Enjoy.

The Perfect Gift

A cool gust of wind blew through the streets of Pallet Town, between houses and through yards. White, powdery snow fell to the ground in the evening darkness. Icicles hung from the edges of roofs. The dark sky was filled with gray clouds that dropped piles of snowfall upon every surface of Pallet Town. The roads and sidewalks were covered in the powdery substance, leaving a clear, smooth, white canvas over the entire town.

Almost every home was covered in decorations to commemorate Christmas. Colorful flashing lights adorned the front yards of every home and decorations were hung upon every street lamp, a reminder of the festivities that await. A warm glow emanated from most houses filled with food, socializing, gifts, and heat.

On this day, Pallet Town was quite cozy.

At this time in the evening, Ash Ketchum sat on the porch of his home, covered in different layers of clothing to provide warmth. He gazed out into the snowdrift, rocking back and forth on a chair as he awaited the arrival of his friends and companions.

Today was the event he'd been looking forward to for a while. His mother thought it would be a good idea to invite all his friends and companions from his journeys over for a Christmas party filled with food and festivities. They planned for it to be on this specific night, unaware of the snowfall that would soon submerge Pallet Town. Fortunately, there wasn't too much snow, and everyone should be able to get there as planned.

Ash couldn't wait to see some of his friends that he hadn't seen in person in years. Since finishing his journey in Kalos, he had decided to reach out to all of his past companions to try and keep in touch better. He contacted all of them, and they were delighted to hear from him again. Since then, he had occasionally met up with some of them and had various get-togethers. However, he had never been able to see all of them at once, and he was quite excited.

It had been a few months since he had last seen any of them, and he was dying to hear about their latest travels, new Pokemon, and any adventures. There were also a few he hadn't seen in person in years, and he was pretty excited to see them.

So Ash sat outside waiting in the cold for his friends to arrive. His mother had suggested he stay in, but he was far too excited to wait inside, so he insisted he wait on the porch. His loyal buddy Pikachu currently sat inside, basking in the warmth by the fireplace.

Suddenly the front door opened and Ash turned his gaze to see why. His mother peeked her head through the door and sighed.

"Ash, you really should come inside. You're going to freeze out here!" murmured Delia.

Ash sighed, "I know, mom. I just really want to be here when they all show up."

"I'm sure they will be here soon. You can answer the door when they get here. Why don't you come inside and sit by the fireplace? I'm making some cookies!" she continued.

Ash looked out once more to the clear canvas of snowfall before relenting. He slowly stood up and walked to the front door. As he came in, he unzipped his jacket and hung it on the coat rack by the door before kicking off his boots. His mother smiled at him, before returning to the kitchen to continue cooking.
