Chapter 5: The Cup Begins!

It is the beginning of spring and snow begins to melt slowly as our tankers are almost done with preparations for the Spring Warfare Cup, second part of International Tank Warfare Tournament that hasn't been held in years.

Today was an official ceremony where teams are divided into 16 pairs. And since the Cup recently opened again, many schools expresed their will to participate. There are a lot of tankers, mostly team commanders, that gathered to spectate an opening ceremony.

Announcer: "Tankers, for the first time in many years of denial, the 63rd Spring Warfare Cup is officially opened and takes place here, in Russia. The following list has been made prior to the ceremony, and here will be listed all 16 pairs of the first round."

The list was shown on the large screen. Evgeniy was excited to see Swedish and Norwegians on the list, making an unexpected comeback after a while. However, others were serious for a brief noment, because tankers will battle Talvisota in their first round of the Cup.

Dmitri knew Talvisota was a tough nut even for KPA, since their strategy is nearly impossible to predict and hard to counter.

Zhukov: "Talvisota, huh."

Leonidas: "Winter War, it is."

Che: "Or maybe Contiuation War."

Genghis/Leonidas/Zhukov: "That's it!"

Sergey: "Freakin' Finnish..."

Dragon and Tetris Team looked at each other in confusion, clueless about why Dmitri looked so worried.

Zhukov was tapping with his feet and nervously clenching his hat. Ruslan looked around, trying to see where is their commander.

Ruslan: "I don't see their commander anywhere. It's just two guys from their BT-42. Weird."

Mikhail: "By the way, how are Tatars doin'?"

Sergey: "Still repairing tanks. Man, those pricks got us real bad back then."

Mikhail: "I mean, that's North Alliance for you. Oh, look, they are on the board."

Tokarev: "Ah, they're up against Soyuz. How unexpected."

He took a smoke from the pack and went outside to smoke. Dmitri then got to Mikhail to talk to him for a second.

Mikhail: "What's up, magical boy?"

Dmitri: "What do you think about this line up? I can tell that Talvisota is tough. It was even tough for KPA once during practice match."

Mikhail: "Really?"

Dmitri: "Yes. And that means we need to work on the plan thoroughly. You know how Simo can be mysterious. Who knows what he can be up to. And we need to make sure you all graduate."

Mikhail: "Meh, no worries. It'll be fine."

...

Later, at school...

Rest of the tankers went to practice. Friends are staying in Vanya's office to help him. Dmitri was still bit spaced out.

Ilya: "Relax, Dima. We'll win, just like we did against much stronger opponents."
